It was difficult for the professor to mislead the lab team about the disappearance of Haru and the android, but somehow he managed to do it. The girl continued to contact him through anonymous letters and the android had progressed a lot.

Instead of suppressing its feelings and trying to control them, Haru let him feel whatever he wanted. She taught him about joy, friendship, sadness, fear, pain... And about love. He became interested in her from the moment he first saw her. This interest only grew over time after time and now he understood that the desire to protect someone comes from the love we felt for that person.

"I want to protect humans because it was one human who taught me what love is." Ai and Haru were sitting under a flowering tree, where they were picnicking to celebrate a year living together. Tokki could not visit them, but they kept in touch. The professor didn't want to admit it, but he was happy for both of them.

The human and the android lived together for the rest of their lives. They learned together, they grew up together... She could have shown the world that androids were not just machines. But she didn't want Ai to become a research project again. So she kept silent and learned from a robot that she could find happiness outside the laboratory, next to someone real.
