"What's love?" The question echoed in her head several times. Again, unknowingly, Tokki watched them through the cameras. "Love...? Why are you asking this?" The girl questioned, trying to win time while she thought of one answer.
"I've heard the scientists say they're going to turn me off because I'm defective. That I love only one human and not all of humanity." The natural way he said it shocked her. "I don't want to be turned off. If I get turned off, I'll never be able to talk to you or save you. And I want to protect you."
She felt her legs go limp and she sat down in the chair next to her. So... The person that Ai loves... It's her? They wanted to shut him down because of her? Her eyes filled with tears and her heart tightened on her chest. Then he came near and lifted her face gently, a tear was trickling down her cheek, and the android took it on his fingers.
"Water. Are you crying? Why?" Haru didn't have the strength to respond. He wanted to protect her, but the feeling was mutual. She wanted to save him. She had to save him! They wanted to turn him off the next day, she could not let that happen. It was an important decision, cause it would make her lose her job and give up her dream of becoming a professional scientist in that lab... But she had to choose.
