Haruka was not sure what to answer about the proposal he had made. She ended up deciding to follow the logic and accepted that he accompany her. "Yes. If it won't disturb you..." She said looking down without the courage to look at him. So she didn't see the surprised expression on his face, nor the happy smile that won his lips when he heard that she would accept his company. At least until they get to her house.
The two walked side by side in silence for a long time, then Haruka broke the silence by talking about work. She asked if he liked the theme of the commercial and also the music she had composed. Syo more than quickly showed admiration for her talent with music and praised her work. Haruka was happy with the compliments, although she did not admit it to herself.
Syo asked what she thought of his performance during the campaign and she praised him too, pointing out the lines she had liked the most. In a matter of seconds, it was as if they had gone back in time to a good time when they were still good friends and talked freely about any subject. That time really existed before they started to like each other and Syo lied about his feelings to protect their careers.
When they discovered that they were in love, Syo went into despair because they still had a very strong connection with the Shining Academy and at that time love was forbidden between members of the same agency. With that in mind, Syo invented a relationship with a person who didn't exist to keep Nanami away. But he was always a bad liar and when he was about to explain the lie to everyone, it sounded like a kind of betrayal to the young composer and their friendship was destroyed...Their friendship was destroyed, as well as their hearts. Haruka ended up moving away from Syo and started working for the Raging Otori agency as a composer for Heavens. Working as a songwriter for three bands, she ended up not having much time to go out to have fun with friends, so Syo didn't have many opportunities to try to talk to her after what happened. The love he felt hadn't changed yet, did hers remain the same too?
Now things had changed. Everything was different and they were adults. They still worked for the same agency, but Shining Saotome's rules on love had changed over the years. Maybe it's finally time to talk about what happened. "Nanami..." Syo called after another pause between their conversations. "I have to talk to you about something." He took courage to say after taking a deep breath. His heart was pounding in his chest and he felt like he was going to have a heart attack any second.
"Um... Syo-kun, I don't know if..." But her words were lost when she noticed his gaze. He was really determined, although she could also see the fear in his eyes. She already knew what he was going to talk about. They were almost in front of her apartment, so she shook her head. "Okay. But not here." She said and he nodded, following her until they entered her apartment.
Inside, they sat on the sofa and she offered him something to drink, but he refused. "Nanami, I can't wait any longer. I have to tell you the truth..." Syo started the conversation again, feeling as if the words were choking him. "I will not demand your forgiveness, but I need to tell you what happened. Please." His eyes said much more than the words that seemed to disappear as soon as he searched for them. "Please, listen to me."Haruka nodded and let him explain that old story again that made them part so cruelly. She let him tell every detail again, without interrupting him. When he finally ended, he was crying and she was trying hard not to do the same. "So... this is what happened. I didn't want it to sound that way. I just... I wanted to protect your career, Nanami. Because you were young and had a bright future up ahead..."
But she finally interrupted him. "I understand. And I think I would have agreed that this was not the best time to start a relationship, Syo..." Tears were streaming down her face and he raised his hand to dry them one by one. "Only you should have talked to me first. I would have understood and we would have avoided so much suffering..." Her voice was just a whisper. Then Syo wrapped her in a tight hug and they were just crying in silence for a long time.
"I can forgive you, Syo-kun. I never wanted to believe what I heard before. I... I still love you very much." She whispered, separating the hug and looking at him with a smile bathed in tears. He felt as if his heart stopped when he heard that and the smile that formed on his lips was just natural. "And I also still love you very much. I promise I won't try to hide things and lie to you anymore. Never again! I... learned my lesson." He whispered softly, caressing her face.
"I believe you. And I think we deserve a second chance." She closed her eyes feeling his caresses, then he leaned down to start a passionate kiss, which was returned in the same intensity. The two agreed to try again and start from zero, without lies and without false promises. If that love had endured for so long, it would surely be strong enough to rebuild their relationship piece by piece....
