Haruka couldn't believe what the archangels were telling her. She tried to argue and seek explanations, but they didn't want to hear it. Even Eiji spoke up about the whole situation, but the angel accused of treason had already been sent to Earth. Eiichi was her partner for so long, saving humans whenever they got into trouble. She couldn't believe that he was evil now!
Eiichi was sent to Earth as a fallen angel, with his wings painted black, for about a month until his sentence was defined. If he proved he was sorry and improved his behavior, he could return to Heaven. But that was not the case and Haruka was really very confused and concerned. She and Eiji had tried to talk to the archangels, but failed. Eiji could not believe that his brother had been sent to Earth as a traitor.
"And if he doesn't improve his behavior... He'll become a demon." The boy's look was sad and worried. Haruka felt that way too, she liked her partner very much and didn't want him to have that fate. "I'm sure he did it because of our father..." Eiji commented with a sigh. "He became a demon after betraying everyone and always wanted us, his children, to follow his path."
"Eiji-kun... Don't worry! I will find a way to find him and I will talk to him. I will have him explain everything to me and change his behavior before the deadline stipulated by the archangels. I promise." Haruka spoke in a welcoming tone, as she was the only one of the two who was allowed to descend to Earth. Eiji smiled at her, a smile that was both sad and gentle. "Please take care. I don't want to lose you too."Haruka arrived on Earth without arousing suspicion, her fieldwork required her to be close to humans and sometimes mixes with them too. She lived in a small house in the forest, where Eiichi used to live with her. As she walked through the trees, she felt a chill run through her spine and her heart raced inside her chest.
"I know you're in there." She heard her voice echo through the forest. Everything was strangely silent. She managed to notice a black figure going over her head and circling her from tree to tree. "Why are you doing this, Eiichi? Your brother and I are worried... The Archangels will turn you into a demon." The young angel explained feeling her heart tighten.
Haruka expected to hear an answer, but the forest was still silent. The figure continued to surround her and as he kept moving, she was unable to see him clearly. She knew that she needed to convince him to do something good, any good deed, to prove that he repented and did not deserve to be turned into a demon. She knew it was his last chance and that his time was short.
"Hey... I know you have your reasons for doing what you're doing, but you don't have to go through this alone. I'm here for you. Please..." Her voice was almost a whisper, each word was said with difficulty as she tried not to cry. "Think about it... And meet me tomorrow at the house where we used to live here on Earth." With that, she spread her wings and headed for her destination.Haruka tidied up the house where she and Eiichi had previously joined together to carry out their missions as guardian angels of humans. She was trying to distract herself, but her thoughts were always going back to Eiichi and the reasons that made him want to become a fallen angel. She was sure it had to do with his father, one of the most powerful demons in Hell, accused of maximum betrayal of the celestial kingdom.
The next morning, Haruka came out on the porch at various times during the day, waiting for the other angel to appear, but no one came. She was almost hopeless when she heard a light tap on the back post. She went there and was surprised to see her partner standing there, with wings as dark as the night sky itself. "Eiichi-kun..." Her eyes filled with tears and a sad smile won her lips.
"If you called me here just to start crying and use my shirt as a scarf... I'm leaving." Eiichi replied in a cold voice, but that coldness did not reach his eyes. He was worried about her. He liked her very much. Haruka swallowed her tears and went out to the back porch, she knew he couldn't get into that house now that he was a fallen angel and was on trial. "No. I wanted to know how are you and what happened. Why did you act that way? Why do you continue to do so?" Her voice and the expression on her face made his heart shatter into a thousand pieces.
"I don't owe you an explanation." He forced himself to say it and spread his wings in order to fly away. She would be a threat to his plans to protect his brother. With it, he would yield much easier to return to heaven before he could complete his task. "Hey, wait!" Haruka managed to grab his shirt before he goes away. "Eiji is just as concerned as I am. Please... I am his last hope. He wants to know the truth." She explained with a pleading look and waited for his reply.Eiichi listened to her words carefully. He already knew she was going to say something like that, but he couldn't speak to her there. His father was listening to what they were saying and watching his steps to see if he was complying with the agreement. But he was also being watched by the angels, who wanted to identify whether his betrayal was intentional or whether he was being manipulated. He knew that he could not fail either side, or the people he loved would suffer.
"If you really want to know, little angel, why don't you follow me and find out?" He gave a dangerous smile and adjusted his glasses over his nose. "If you think you can trust me... follow me and test your own belief!" He challenged her and then stretched his wings, taking flight and gaining height. If she followed him, she would have to take certain steps, but it was the only way to talk in peace.
Haruka listened to what he said feeling her heart was heavy in her chest. However, when making her decision, she had no doubts: she spread her wings and took flight just behind him. She had to look for him in the clouds, but she finally found him and he didn't look surprised. "Still taking chances as usual, don't you?" His smile was now sad, as sad as his own heart was.
"And you didn't hide things from me before. Tell me the truth." Haruka asked again, showing a determined look. Eiichi blew out a long breath and moved toward her. He grabbed her waist and leaned forward like he was going to kiss her, but he did it just so he could say what needed to be said. Deep in his heart, Eiichi knew that his partner would try to save him and believed in her ability, but he feared she would end up getting hurt. The quickest way to avoid this would be to tell the truth....
