She was sick of it all! She was already tired of those men pretending to love her, treating her only interested in her crown! That was ridiculous! She didn't want to be just another princess, she wanted to make a difference! She had spoken to her father, the king, many times, but the king continued to deny her permission to be a knight.
The Queen was too worried about her husband's health to note how the princess's behavior had changed dramatically in the last few days. Soon, the king would die and the princess have to marry a noble prince to take the throne with her. However... She persisted in denying any and every request for a marriage that appeared. The servants of the castle were already making gossip about the princess, and that worried the majesties.
From the window of her bedroom, after the last fight with her mother, the girl could watch the ships docking in the port of the village near the castle. Her heart wanted to be closer to the sea, but her parents feared the high tides and strong currents of that region, so they never let her even get near the beach. They believed that on the dock there were only beggars, drunken sailors, and filthy pirates.
The princess's curiosity finally gained space and the reason for the last fight made her gain the courage to flee. She wasn't going to marry any stupid rich man. She would flee from there, become a knight in another kingdom, and return to show her achievements. With that, she wrote her farewell letter, gathered some belongings, and fled through the secret passages without warning anyone.
