Chapter 9

Logans pov

"Quinn, are you hiding something?" My voice was hard.

He slowly looked up breathing hard.

Levi and Joey looked at one another then Quinn confused.

"He said if I told anyone he'd kill them."

My heart began to pound, but I kept my face calm.

"Cain. It was Cain wasn't it?" Elijah asked looking at me for a brief moment.

Quinn slowly nodded.

"I would have told you... but... Levi and Joey come first."

I waved a hand.

"So did he take Echo?"

Quinn shook his head slowly.

"No... but he's trying to find her... Cain said he loves her... I-"

I closed my eyes and slowly shook my head.

"I'm going to kill him."

Quinn said nothing, simply looked at the ground nodding.

Levi shook his head.

"Wait for a second, no way. Cain would never-"

Quinn looked him in the eye, showed him the pain he was feeling.

"Oh my god," Joey whispered looking down.

Echo's pov

"Watch her."

I smiled to myself.

Sending Famine to watch me as you all leave?

Wrong move War.

I'm getting myself out of this, I don't need help this time.

I patted the ground next to me and looked at Famine.

"Come sit."

He cocked his head to the side.

"Sit?"

I stood and sat back down.

"Sit."

He nodded at me and sat beside me instantly driving his fingers into my hair.

"Echo..." My name was a prayer on his tongue.

I reached up and stroked his hair my other hand reaching behind him.

Famine's eyes widened as my face neared his.

"Echo.... no?"

I brushed my lips across his cheek softly my other hand gripping a rock.

He let out a soft gasp and curled his hands deeper into my hair inhaling.

I smiled at him before smacking his head as hard as I could.

He fell with a loud thud.

I felt a sharp pain in my heart as I gazed at his innocent and unsuspecting face.

Not innocent... he's a killer.

I rushed out of the cave, keeping my eyes focussed on the light and not the dead bodies.

I didn't make it far when hands wrapped around my hips.

I opened my mouth to scream then slowly relaxed.

"Cain? What are you doing here?" I whispered wiggling to get free.

He kept a firm grip however and didn't let me go.

"I heard you were missing."

I nodded and shifted again trying to make him see what he was doing so he'd let me go.

"Cain put me down, we have to go before they come back."

He smiled and stroked my cheek with his thumb.

"Cain." I whimpered suddenly afraid.

He smiled trailing his eyes along me form.

I pushed his shoulder harshly only for him to drop me suddenly.

I swayed and fell backward onto my butt.

Cain pounced, my head was banged onto the hard stone under me.

I cried out and tried to roll free, which was impossible because he was sitting on my legs.

He grabbed my arms with one hand and placed them over my head.

"Echo, you know they aren't even looking for you," Cain whispered in my ear making me try and twist my head away. 

"Your lying!" I told him wrenching away.

He laughed curling his free hand along my throat and to my breasts.

My eyes widened in paralyzing fear.

"Echo they don't need you anymore."

I kicked and fought in vain, his vampire strength making him impossible to fight.

"Stop! That's not true!"

Cain's cold smile make me freeze, heart pounding impossibly hard.

"Maybe you just don't want it to be true, Echo look deep into your heart, they don't love you."

I let out a scream then looked away from his eyes.

He grabbed my chin and forced my face closer.

I gasped fighting not to panic.

Cold lips touched mine, they were so... stiff and unfeeling.

Suddenly Cain was thrown off me.

I gasped rolling over to retch any food left in my stomach.

Cold sweat made my whole body numb, my heart dropped into my stomach.

Arms wrapped around me lifting me up.

I looked up at War and closed my eyes not caring anymore.

"Don't," War told me calmly.

I looked up confused.

"Don't give up yet. The war isn't over."

I shook my head.

"I'm not a toy for your amusements."

He flashed me a grin.

"Humanity is a strange thing."

I showed them how to he human before...

but can I do it again?
