Runaway

A bright flash filled Taehyun's vision. Waves of panic rode through him. He ran, his weak, skinny legs protesting as the unused muscles were forced to work. The light follows him, illuminating the falling snow, trailing and weaving around the trees and obstacles like a giant ball of tangled Christmas lights. Tendrils of plants creep up towards him, helping him create a path to block the light, but honestly, they looked like they were trying to hold him down. Nine of them, a voice booms. You must find the nine of them. What? The voice sounded male, yet not human at the same time. That confused him. He felt his heartbeat race upwards. He burst through an old gate, into an abandoned junkyard, by the looks of it. The very stubborn ball of light followed him.

"Jeez!" He shouted at the light. "Leave me alone!"

You must find them.

"Pardon?"

(That was not a good conversation starter when being chased by a ball of passive-aggressive light).

Nine of them. One who breaks the soul of others, another who changes the time of others. Third, a child that has no weight, fourth one who changes faith. Fith who takes the form of things, sixth that plays with puppet strings. Seventh one a girl of glass, eighth and ninth that reflect like brass. Nine gifted all in total, nine to find, all still mortal, found, and the world may see tomorrow.

"What do you mean?" He asked, desperately wishing that he could stop the tremor in his voice. But the ball of light had faded. In its place, was an ornate notebook, with yellowing and thick, ruffled pages, a set of holes embedded in the spine of the book. Ten holes. "There are ten of us," He realised. Scooping up the book, he inspected the holes. They were actually filled with gems, all as black as night, almost passing for a shadow. "Well," he decided, "Finding some people like me might not be so bad after all."
