Yuna suddenly frowned, flexing her fingers as she examined them carefully. "Something's wrong," She muttered. "No offense, but now is a terrible time to be worried about your manicure, Yuna." "That's not it-" Yuna stopped as a mechanical click sounded next to her head, the other four freezing in alarm. She turned, smiled warmly at the ten men surrounding them, and then commanded, "Open fire, I dare you."
And that was exactly what the soldiers did.
An alarm brayed like a dying sheep as the five were immediately surrounded, thankfully many soldiers were busy trying to stop their comrades from murdering everyone.
"Hi," Yeonjun started off easily, "You're in our way." Yeji flicked her hand to a side and the men froze. "Okay, we have about fifteen minutes-" As soon as she said that, the men unfroze and glared daggers and various other sharp objects at her.
"Fifteen minutes, you say?""Something's wrong. Just run."
"Why do we always say that?"
They ran.
-
They looked very heroic, five kids, running from a group of armed men. And then they decided to make one of the worst decisions ever. "Let's run into the base."
"What?"
"Come on, what could happen?" Yeonjun said, his fingers twitching in excitement.
"We could die," Yuna reminded.
"It's fine, we'll be fine," Yeonjun urged. Then he dashed right in.
"He's crazy," Yeji sighed. And she followed him.
"They're crazy," Yuna muttered, Chaeryeong nodding in agreement.
-
The other five waited and waited, but no one came to them.
"Okay, that's it, we're going in," Ryujin bounced up after they had waited for more than thirty minutes.
"You think it's okay?" Taehyun questioned as he popped up from behind the bush, brushing stray leaves off his shirt. Jisu sniffed, "Well, let's give it a shot. I heard some commotion further ahead, our friends must have made more friends."
-
"This is one of the worst guarded bases I've ever seen," Yuna muttered as they crept through the building, "There are absolutely no guards whatsoever." "Please don't jinx us," Chaeryeong hissed, "Because that would be very inconvenient."
"Yes," Yeonjun agreed, "And since our powers are kinda funky, it will be bad if we are attacked now."
Yeji was still frowning at her fingers, "I don't get it. Is it because the orbs are messing with our powers? Mine seem to have a shorter reaction time."
Yuna wrinkled her nose, "Yep. But my power seems okay."
Spinning her trusty glass rod in her hands, Chaeryeong commented, "I think mine is fine too."
Everyone turned to Yeonjun, who raised his hands, "Hey, do you want me to casually murder someone now? Not that it can't be arranged, of course."
"Let's focus," Yuna suggested, the four others nodding in agreement and they continued to slink down the hallways.
"There's a vault there," Yeji said, "Maybe...?" She trailed off hopefully, but Yeonjun frowned, "This is too easy, isn't it?"
Footsteps clacked behind them, and they turned, tensed, but they were greeted with the other five, with twigs in their hair and leaves attached to their clothes, completed with bugs and spiders crawling around them.
"What happened to you?" Yuna asked, gesturing to a critter on Taehyun's shoulder.
Kai sighed, "We got stuck in a tree."
"You got stuck in a tree," Ryujin corrected, "And when we tried to help you, they surrounded us."
"And Taehyun got Kai out of the tree!"
"He flung me out of the tree," Kai grumbled.
"Doesn't matter," Taehyun waved them off, "What's important is we get the orbs back."
"Is that where they are?" Jisu asked as she pointed at the vault.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to try."
"Yeah...except that our powers barely work."
"We have to figure something out."
"We could torture someone to get a key," Yeonjun suggested enthusiastically. "Sure," Yeji replied, "And alert the entire building."
A siren wailed and red lights attached to the walls flashed brilliantly. "What's going on?" Yuna squeaked out softly. "I think something is happening outside," Taehyun mentioned.
"Woah, how do you know?"
"Because I can see that," Taehyun nodded at the window.
A van was overturned, and people were pouring out like ants from an anthill. Lights flashed and people screamed, guns were releasing dozens of bullets per second. "Gifted," Jisu gasped, "Are those the ones that were-"
"Captured? Looks like it."
"Great distraction, let's go."
"Do you reckon we can pick the lock."
"Are you crazy, this is a high-security lock, how do you expect us to waltz over and pick open the-"
"Got it," Chaeryeong piped up. There she stood, with the vault creaked open and her finger-
"That is seriously gross."
"And weird."
"You turned your finger into a glass key?"
The girl shrugged, "isn't hard, just stick it in and try to figure out the pattern of the lock."
"You, my friend, are a miracle."
"Thanks, but let's go."
AN: Sorry for being so inactive, I had a huge writing block and was very distracted by my other book, I hope these three chapters can make up for it >-<
