"What do you mean? It's only Tuesday! The schoolweek has just started and you want me to take a day off already? You're weird.", I said as I prepared my things for school.
"Haven't you missed any classes since you started school?"
"No."
As I was just about o arrange my backpack, Tawan grabbed it away from me.
"Well you're the weird one."
"Whatever. I'm going to school and you can't stop me."
I pushed him aside and made my way to the bathroom. But just as I was to grab the doorknob, Tawan blocked my entry aggressively.
"If you go with me today, I promise you will have a good time. Now let me ask you, when was the last time you had a good time?"
I was at a loss for words when he asked me that question. Come to think of it, I told myself I would be spending the remaining of my time having a good time and enjoying my youth, but all I had were weekends filled with boredom and netflix.
"See? All you ever do is study, go home, eat and sleep. You're eighteen yet you live like you're 89."
I sighed at what he just said. Lately I've been losing every argument I have with Tawan and I don't know if it's because I was just giving in or because I was starting to like his ideas.
"Okay fine. Just let me take a shower okay? I don't want to be smelly when we get to where we're going."
I took a shower and dressed up casually. I don't thinj we're going anywhere fancy as Tawan just had jeans and a hoodie on, so I went with a pair of jeans and an oversized shirt. When I got out of the bathroom, Tawan was already slouching on the floor playing with his phone.
"I thought you were gonna spend an entire day in there.", he said as he continued playing, not paying any attention to me.
"Whatever. Get up and let's go before I change my mind.", I annoyingly replied.
"Where are we going by the way? It's way too early to be hanging out somewhere."
"You'll know when we get there. In the meantime, try not to be annoying", Tawan said as he handed me his helmet.
We took off from the building as Tawan steered his motorcycle towards the location I had no idea where. The morning sun seemed to be following our direction as it illuminated the way, and it revealed to me the part of Chiang Mai I'd never seen before. In my years of staying here, I didn't even get the chance to look at the beauty Chiang Mai holds. The beautiful mountains surround the city like stalwart walls that shield it from outside terrors. Below the mountains are where tall buildings and the city proper are situated, creating a contrast to the wondrous greens that envelope the whole land.
I never had the chance to savor the breeze in the morning as I take the bus to school each day, but sitting here in Tawan's bike allowed me to feel the cold air emanating from the mountains. It almost instantly freezes my body and sends me to shivers, but the Sun aided me and gave me warmth to fend myself from the morning breeze. Before I knew it, we had already reached the end of Chiang Mai and the bike had already passed through the sign saying You are leaving Chiang Mai .
