OWENS POV
Amelia and I accidentally fell asleep last night. It felt nice to wake up with her in my arms. We were going on our first date today. I was super nervous. I had an idea to set up a picnic in the tree house by the lake, where we first held hands. I couldn't wait.
"Hey mom!" I said as I came down the stairs.
"What?" She said.
"I'm going down on the lake," I said.
"With Amelia?" She asked.
"Well I'm setting up a picnic for us," I said.
"So you asked her out?" She said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Okay," my mom smiled, "it was cold in the house did you leave your window open all night?"
"Oh yeah I guess I did that's my bad," I said.
"No worries, just try to remember to close it," she said.
"Okay," I nodded. I ran into the basement and grabbed a plaid blanket and an old wooden basket. I ran back upstairs and Megan was in the kitchen making breakfast.
"Can you do me a favor?" I asked.
"Sure," she said.
"Can you help me make lunch?" I asked.
"At ten thirty in the morning?" She said.
"Well Amelia and I are going on a picnic date," I said.
"Who knew you were a romantic," Megan chuckled, "I can only make peanut butter and jelly so that's what you're getting."
"Sounds good to me," I said.
"What about the cute star shaped cutters for fruit!" Megan said.
"I don't want fruit," I chuckled.
"It's cute anyway!" Megan said.
"Fine," I chuckled.
"Is she allergic to peanut butter?" Megan asked.
"No," I chuckled.
"Good," Megan chuckled. I cut fruit into little shapes like megan wanted and them we both baked cookies together. We packed everything neatly and then we both rode our bikes down to the lake.
"You really like her," Megan chuckled.
"Uh yeah," I said.
"She's very pretty," Megan said.
"Yeah, she is," I said. We set everything up in the treehouse and it looked so perfect.
"She's lucky," Megan chuckled.
"I'm lucky," I said.
"You go get her, and I'll wait here with everything," Megan smiles.
"Thanks Meg," I said. I got on my bike and texted Amelia.
"You ready now?" I sent.
"Yeah sure," she sent. I put my bike back into my garage and walked over to her house. I knocked on the door and she opened it and she was so pretty.
"Hi," she smiled.
"Hi," I said.
"Mom I'll be back soon!" Amelia yelled.
"Okay have fun!" Her mom said. She closed the door and I outstretched my hand for her. She smiled and grabbed it.
"So where are we off to?" She chuckled.
"It's a surprise," I said.
"Okay," she said. We got to the path and I stopped walking.
"What?" She said.
"Close your eyes," I said.
"Owen,"'she complained. I walked up behind her and put my hands over her eyes. She chuckled and we started walking. We got to the tree house and I took my hands away.
"Okay look," I said. She smiled back at me.
"It's so cute," she smiled. Megan jumped down and smiled.
"Have fun loser," she said to me and hopped on her bike.
"Thanks loser," I chuckled. Amelia and I climbed up the ladder and I sat down next to her.
"Owen this is adorable!" She smiled.
"Almost as adorable as you," I said.
"Shut up," she said.
"Shut up," I mocked. She smiled and I put my arm around her as we ate lunch. We looked out the little deck of the tree house and it was a good view of the lake. She turned to look at me and leaned in and kissed me. We started making out again and I loved it. Her lips felt so good against mine. When we broke the kiss I pushed a piece of hair behind her ear and stroked her cheek.
"Hi," she said quietly.
"Hi," I said.
"You're cute," she said.
"So are you," I smiled. We finished eating lunch and she snuggled into me.
"So are you going back to LA?" I asked, since I heard her conversation with Nancy.
"I don't want to," she said.
"Why not? I thought you loved the beaches," I said.
"I do," she said, "But I have nothing to go back for. Nancy is going to brag about her perfect college life at UCLA, Derek is going to go back to his ex girlfriend Addison, and don't be fooled by the word ex, he still loves her, Liz has a big group of friends there that she still talks to every weekend, but me, I have no one to go back to."
"I'm sorry," I said.
"I don't want to go," she said.
"Well," I said, "what if you stayed with me for the weekend?" She sat up and looked at me in disbelief.
"Really? Your mom wouldn't mind?" She said.
"I mean she probably will but I'll convince her," I chuckled.
"I don't want to impose on you and your family," She said.
"You're not because I offered," I said.
"Okay," she smiled.
"I'll ask my mom later and let you know," I said.
"You're the best," she said.
"There's one more thing I brought," I said.
"Okay," she said. I grabbed the small tin of cookies Megan and I made.
"Cookies!" She smiled.
"Courtesy of Megan," I chuckled, "I kinda just turned the oven on." She laughed and kissed me.
AMELIAS POV
We were walking back from the lake and the date went perfectly. I really like him so much. My mom called me and wanted me to say goodbye to Nancy or whatever. I was walking and Owen grabbed my hand. We got to my house and I was sad it came to an end.
"Thank you for an amazing first date," I smiled.
"Thank you for making it so special," he smiled and kissed me. I kissed him back passionately and I heard my front door open.
"Uh, sorry," Derek chuckled and walked out to the car.
"I'll see you later?" I chuckled.
"Yeah," he smiled. I walked inside and Derek followed me.
"Having fun making out on the porch," Derek said.
"Shut up," I said.
"You don't have to be all embarrassed about it," Derek said.
"I said shut up," I said.
"So was the date good, or should I just shut up," he chuckled.
"It was good," I said.
"Amelia!" My mom smiled as she came out of the kitchen, "how was the first date?"
"It was fine," I said.
"We're taking Nancy back to the airport soon okay?" My mom said.
"Yeah," I said.
"So it was good?" My mom smiled.
"Yes, it was very good," I said.
