OWENS POV
I'm so worried about Amelia. She's been acting fine, we've been hanging out and we've been hanging out in the group a lot. She comes to school everyday, but I'm worried she isn't eating. She barely eats at lunch and she eats minimally when we hangout. She's been wearing baggy clothes to hide it but I can tell, you can see it in her face and her arms. I mean Amelia was always thin, she was, but now she was super skinny, health threatening skinny. I was sitting next to her at lunch and she was doing homework to hide the fact that she wasn't planning on eating. I felt my phone buzz and it was a group chat with everyone but Amelia.
"I'm worried about her," Callie sent.
"She isn't eating," jackson sent.
"She's lost a lot of weight, should we do something?" April sent.
"I'll talk to her, I noticed it too," I sent. We all looked up at each other and we were all worried sick about her.
-
I was walking out of school with Amelia and I put my arm around her.
"How was school today?" She asked me, she was in such a peppy mood.
"It was good, you?" I asked.
"Yeah," she smiled, "oh I can't hangout today I have to take care of something." That worries me.
"Like what?" I asked.
"Um," she said, "it's just some stuff with my mom."
"Okay," I said, "you okay?"
"Yeah," she said, "why?"
"No reason," I bit my tongue because I was worried. We got in Derek's car and he drove us and Liz home. We got to Amelia's house and we got out and she came over to me and pecked my lips.
"I'll see you later okay?" She smiled.
"Okay," I nodded.
"I love you Owen," she said.
"I love you too," I said, "so much." She smiled and kissed my before going inside.
AMELIAS POV
I walked inside my house and my mom was sitting on the couch on her computer. I needed help. I knew it. Owen was too nice to say anything because he was afraid I would shatter if he said anything.
"How was school?" She asked me, as I was frozen in the doorway.
"Um," I said, "I need help."
"What?" She said as she closed her computer. I walked over and sat down next to her.
"I think we need to go back to the hospital," I said.
"Okay," my mom said, "let's go, who do you want to see? Doctor Webber? Doctor Turner?"
"I can't see them," I said.
"Why not?" She said.
"They'll be disappointed in me," I said quickly.
"No they won't," she said.
"Please don't make me see them," I said.
"Okay," she nodded. We got in the car and we were both quiet when we parked at the hospital. I looked at my mom and I could feel tears forming in my eyes.
"Hey it's okay, Amelia, it's okay to ask for help," she said. I nodded as the tears fell down my face and she hugged me.
"It's okay to need help," she said, "you're okay." We walked into the hospital and my mom got me a different doctor.
"So they said the doctor will see you in a few minutes okay?" My mom said as she sat down next to me.
"Am I going back into the psych ward?" I asked.
"That's up to you," she said.
"Okay," I said.
"Amelia Shepherd?" A woman said.
"You'll be okay, I'll be waiting here okay?" My mom said. I nodded and followed this woman down the hall and into a room.
"I'm doctor Miranda Bailey," she said, "I see you've recently had Doctor Webber and Turner, is there a reason you wanted to switch?" She looked at me and I froze, I suddenly didn't want to do this anymore.
"I, uh," I stuttered.
"Hey, this is patient doctor confidentiality, whatever you tell me stays right in this room okay?" She said.
"I didn't want to admit to them I needed help again," I said quietly.
"Okay," she said softly, "okay, that's okay."
"I'm afraid I'm going to hurt myself again," I said.
"Okay, well honey, you are at the right place, and you did the right thing by asking for help, there is so shame in that okay?" Bailey said. I nodded and she handed me a clip board with a bunch of papers.
"Do you want to get your mom for these?" She asked.
"No," I said, "she'll start crying or something."
"Okay," Bailey said. It was a bunch of tests, probably depression and anxiety. I filled everything out and gave it back to Bailey.
"I'll be back in a few minutes okay?" She said.
"Okay," I said. I was sitting alone in the room and the door opened. I looked up and it was Doctor Webber.
"I heard you were here," he said. I froze and didn't say anything.
"I'm not mad," he said, "knowing to ask for help is good."
"I'm sorry," I said.
"For what?" He said.
"We made so much progress," I said, "and I'm here again."
"Let me tell you something okay?" He said, "I used to be an alcoholic. For years I drank myself into oblivion. But then I got sober, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, it really was, and sometimes I slipped up and I needed help too, and I felt shame too, felt like I disappointed everyone around me, but the truth is, it's self growth, you don't want yourself to get back to that point so you're here, helping yourself, and the most important thing is that you're alive Amelia." I could feel my eyes filling with tears, I nodded as he hugged me and I started crying.
"You're going to be okay," He said.
