a few weeks later
AMELIAS POV
I felt bad lying. I had to. Evelyn asked me to. Owen wanted me to come to parents weekend at Harvard and obviously I wanted to come, but Evelyn has a better idea of surprising him. I told him my mom is forcing me to visit Derek at Columbia and it's the same weekend. I feel bad lying. I shouldn't, but, his smile will be priceless. And he already surprised me so it feels appropriate to surprise him. I just feel so bad because when I told him he was so upset.
"Amelia are you ready?" My mom called.
"Yup!" I said as I ran downstairs with a small bag and my carry on. Evelyn smiled.
"He's going to be so surprised," She smiled.
"Are you two ever gonna visit each other normally or are you just gonna keep popping up," Megan chuckled.
"The element of surprise is much more fun," I chuckled.
"I agree," Evelyn chuckled.
"Alright be good, I'll see you Monday," my mom said and hugged me.
"Bye mom I love you," I said and hugged her.
"I love you too," She said and kissed my head. We drove to the airport and we waited about 45 minutes in the gate before boarding. I was really nervous because I hated flying and this was the first time I was flying with just Evelyn and Megan, no Owen.
"You okay?" Evelyn asked, she was sitting in between Megan and I because Megan begged for the isle seat.
"Yeah I'm fine," I said.
"Don't like flying?" She chuckled, "Owen's father was the same way."
"Hate it," I said nervously. The plane started going up and she held her hand out.
"It'll be over soon," she said.
"Thank you," I said and held her hand as we ascended into the sky.
-
"Amelia," I heard. I felt someone nudge my shoulder. I opened my eyes and it was Evelyn.
"Hey," I yawned.
"We're landing in 15," she said, "Megan wake up."
"Mom I'm tired," Megan said.
"We're landing soon," Evelyn said.
"Okay," Megan said. After about 15 to 20 minutes we landed and eventually got off the plane.
"Stay here, we'll go greet him and then he'll see you," Evelyn chuckled.
"Okay," I smiled, I couldn't wait to see him.
OWENS POV
I had to go pick up Megan and my mom from the airport. They were both coming for parents/family weekend. I was really excited to see them, I haven't seen them since I went back in October to surprise Amelia. I miss her. She said she couldn't come because her and Carolyn were visiting Derek at Columbia. It sucks but I get it. I feel like she didn't have a choice, but it just sucks that I can't see her this weekend. I walked by the gate and saw my mom and Megan. My mom ran towards me and I hugged her tightly and did the same to Megan.
"It's so good to see you guys," I smiled.
"You too," my mom smiled.
"Why did you have to go so far," Megan chuckled.
"Was the flight alright?" I asked.
"This one snored the whole time," my mom chuckled and looked at Megan.
"Hey it was an 8 hour flight," Megan protested.
"Alright alright, no fighting on our weekend," I chuckled, "are you guys hungry do you want to grab a bite?"
"Well I think there's someone else who would want to join us," my mom smiled, "She's over there." I followed my moms point towards the gate and that's when I saw her. The love of my life. Amelia. I started running and she did the same. I wrapped her in a tight hug that practically knocked her off her feet.
"Oh my god Owen," she laughed as she wrapped her legs around my waist.
"You came," I smiled.
"Of course I did stupid," she chuckled. I kissed her passionately as I put her down and wrapped my arms around her waist.
"What about Derek?" I said, "and Columbia?"
"I made it up dummy," Amelia chuckled, "it was your moms idea." I picked her up again and hugged her.
"Oh my god I'm so glad you're here," I said.
"Me too," she said, "you know I wouldn't miss it."
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," she said and kissed me. I smiled at her and wrapped her in another tight hug.
"Did we surprise you?" My mom chuckled.
"You did," I smiled, "thank you." I hugged her and Megan again.
