OWENS POV
Derek hasn't woken up. He has to. Amelia will shatter if he doesn't. I'm so worried about her. She hasn't left the hospital, and she's barely eating. I know she's distracted but it's worrying me. Her mom can't even get her to go home.
"Hey," I said softly as I sat down next to her in Derek's room.
"Hey," she said.
"I brought you something," I said. I handed her a bag with a sandwich I made while I was at my
house before.
"Thanks," she said.
"You have to eat Amelia, I know you're distracted and worried, but you need to eat too," I said. She looked down and nodded.
"I know," she said in a small voice.
"Okay," I said and kissed her head.
"I just, I'm really worried about Derek and I haven't had much time to think about myself," she said.
"It's okay, just work on it okay?" I said. She looked at me and nodded. She ate the sandwich silently and it was good to see her eating again.
"I'm worried he won't wake up," Amelia said as she grabbed my hand.
"I'm sure he will," I reassured.
"Yeah," she said. The door opened and it was Carolyn with Liz, Nancy, and Kathleen, along with a nurse to check Derek's stats. Amelia put her head on my shoulder and I put my arm around her.
"Guys I need a minute with the nurse and doctors," Carolyn said. The five of us understood and left the room.
"Wanna go for a walk? Clear your mind?" I said.
"Yeah sure," Amelia said, "can we make a stop?"
"Sure," I said.
"Okay," she nodded and grabbed my hand. I kissed her head and we walked down the hallway together. We stopped at an office door and Amelia knocked. The door opened and it was Doctor Webber.
"Amelia? Hey what's up?" He said as he hugged her.
"Um I've been better," Amelia said.
"I heard about your brother, I'm so sorry, I hope he wakes up soon," Webber said.
"Me too," Amelia said.
"Hi Owen," he said and smiled at me.
"Hey," I said.
"If you need anything you know where to find me," Webber said, "don't hesitate."
"I won't," Amelia said. His pager went off and Doctor Webber frowned.
"I'll catch you later?" He said to us.
"Yeah," we both said as he ran down the hallway. We continued walking and Amelia held my hand. She was so cute. I pulled her into me and kissed her lips.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," she said.
"It'll all new okay," I said.
"I hope so," she said.
"Why don't we go get some coffee?" I said.
"I'm okay," she said, "you can if you want."
"Are you sure?" I said. She nodded.
"Okay," I said.
"Can we go back?" She said.
"Yeah," I nodded, "let's go." I put my arm around her and we walked down the hallway back to the waiting room. I guess Carolyn was still talking with the doctors, I mean we weren't gone for super long. I couldn't help but notice how tired Amelia looked.
AMELIAS POV
"Let me take you home for a few hours," Owen said. Derek still hasn't woken up and I was getting really worried.
"I want to stay here," I said.
"Just get an hour or two of sleep, eat something, take a hot shower, you'll feel better I promise," Owen said.
"Just a few hours okay?" I said.
"Okay," he said.
"I'll go tell my mom," I said. I opened the door and my mom was sitting alone in the room.
"Hey," she said as she wiped her eyes.
"Did the doctors say anything?" I asked.
"They keep just saying they'll hope he wakes up," my mom said.
"Is it okay if I go back home for an hour or so to take a shower and eat?" I asked. My mom nodded.
"Yeah of course," my mom said, "I love you."
"I love you too," I said. I walked back into the hall and Owen was waiting for me.
"Ready?" He asked. I nodded and we walked into to lobby and out to his car. We drove back to my house and I unlocked the door.
"You want me to make you anything?" Owen asked.
"I need a shower, I smell awful, you should have asked me to do this two days ago," I chuckled. He chuckled and kissed my head.
"Bath?" I said.
"Sure," he said. I walked upstairs and turned the hot water on while we both undressed. We both got in the tub and I leaned up against Owen.
"What if he doesn't wake up?" I asked.
"Why don't we cross that bridge if we get there," Owen said as he started rubbing my back.
"I think I need to prepare myself," I said quietly.
"Okay," he said as he ran his fingers through my hair. I leaned back onto him against as we sat there silently. I enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the time away from the hospital. I heard my phone go off and I looked at Owen.
"I'll be back," I said.
"Amelia," he complained.
"5 seconds," I chuckled as I wrapped myself in a towel. I walked over to my phone which was plugged in on the counter and saw that my mom texted me.
"He's awake," It read.
