first day of school :)
AMELIAS POV
Today was the first day of senior year. Big whoop. I had no friends, no boyfriend, no siblings, nothing. It would be boring. I got up and got changed and walked downstairs.
"Last first day!" My mom smiled.
"Yeah whatever," I said and grabbed a banana.
"Oh come on," my mom said. I looked at my phone and I had a few texts from Owen.
"Good luck on your last first day! Senior year! You're gonna kill it. Love you :)," the first one read.
"Can you call at 4 your time 7 my time?" The second read. The third message was a red heart. I smiled and responded.
"Good morning :) 4 my time works, love you more," I sent.
"Perfect," he responded.
"What are you up to?" I sent.
"Just got out of anatomy seminar, heading to grab a cup of coffee and then to bio," he said.
"Ooh mr.smarty pants," I sent. I finished getting ready for school and let my mom take a bunch of pictures of me and then grabbed my car keys.
"Have a good day!" My mom called.
"Impossible," I mumbled and walked out to my car. I drove over to the school and parked. I grabbed my bag and tried my new locker. I walked upstairs alone and into physics, this was going to be hell.
-
I was sitting alone at lunch. I had no friends anymore. I mean I still talked to Jackson, April and Callie at least three times a week, but they weren't here anymore. They were off to bigger and better things, like Owen. I can't blame them. I'd go as far away from here too if I could.
"Hey it's Amelia right?" I heard. I looked up from my sandwich and saw a blonde girl standing with a lunch tray.
"Uh yeah," I said.
"Is anyone sitting here?" She asked awkwardly.
"Nope, be my guest," I said.
"Thanks," she said, "I'm Charlotte, Charlotte King, I just moved here, I recognized you from physics, I didn't know where to sit."
"Well you're welcome to sit here Charlotte," I said, "no one else is coming."
"Why not? Don't you have friends?" She said. I chuckled.
"They all graduated last year," I said.
"Oh, that stinks," she said.
"Where'd you move from?" I asked.
"LA," she said.
"Me too," I said, "just in my freshmen year."
"Really?" She said.
"Yeah," I said. My phone buzzed and I looked and it was Owen.
"How's your day?" It read.
"It's ok, hows yours?" I sent.
"Exhausting, I have to go work on a group project for public communications in a few," He sent.
"You can still call though right?" I sent.
"Of course I can, I always have time for you," he sent, and that made me smile.
"What classes do you have after lunch?" Charlotte said.
"Uh," I said and pulled my schedule up on my phone, "Stats, gym, and calculus."
"I have stats too!" She smiled.
"Nice," I said.
"Do you like it here?" She asked. I couldn't lie to her, she seemed so happy.
"Yeah it's nice," I said.
"That's good," she said.
"Yeah," I said.
-
I was walking out of Stats with Charlotte, and of course we had homework. That's so dumb, it was the first day.
"Hey did you want to call and do the stats homework together?" She asked.
"You could just come over," I chuckled.
"You sure?" She said.
"Yeah," I said, "here give me your phone I'll give you my number and text you later."
"Omg thanks," she smiled.
"Yeah no problem," I said as we walked down the hallway, I figured I needed to make at least one friend today.
OWENS POV
I was walking out of the library after working on my group project. I looked at the time and it was 6:30, so I had a half an hour till I needed to go back to my dorm to call Amelia. My roommate was at a biochemistry seminar from 6-9 tonight so the room would be quiet. He wants to be an engineer or something like that, so he's always going to those types of things. I picked up dinner at the campus chipotle and looked at my phone and I had a text from Amelia.
"You'll never guess what," she sent.
"What?" I sent.
"I made a friend today," she sent.
"That's good," I sent.
"I'll tell you about it in 30," she sent.
"Okay," I sent with a smiley face. I got to my building and used my key card to get to my floor. I unlocked my door and dropped my bag and showered real quick before grabbing my laptop to call Amelia. I was emptying my bag when I heard the ring of the FaceTime. I hit accept and sat on my bad.
"Hi!" She smiled.
"Hey!" I smiled.
"Dude you'll never believe it, I was kinda friendly today," she laughed.
"That's very surprising," I said.
"I know," she said, "she just moved here from LA, we have physics and stats together."
"That's good," I said.
"Yeah, her names Charlotte, she came over today and we did homework today," she said. It was good seeing her make friends, and I was glad her first day wasn't horrible.
"So it's safe to say you had a good day?" I said.
"Yeah," she said, "how was your day?"
"It was good," I said, "today is my days I have most of my classes but I got through it."
"Which ones do you have today? Anatomy, bio, public communications, and English?" She said.
"Yeah," I said, "and then tomorrow is history and Calc II."
"Nice," she said.
"Yeah," I said I looked at her cute face on the screen and I missed her so much.
"You're so pretty," I said.
"You're so handsome," she said. There was a knock on my door room.
"Hey I'll be right back," I said and got up. I opened the door and it was my friends Teddy and George.
"Are you talking to her? Can I meet her?" Teddy asked.
"Yeah sure," I chuckled.
"After we were gonna go downstairs and play pool," George said, "you in?"
"Yeah, just give me a few," I said. I walked back over to my computer and Teddy and George sat down next to me.
"Amelia," I said, "these are my friends George and Teddy." I've told her about them but they've never met before.
"Hi," Amelia smiled.
"You must be Owen's girl," Teddy smiled, "he talks about you all the time."
"Better be saying good things," Amelia joked.
"He is don't worry," George reassured.
"Okay I'll meet you guys down there?" I said.
"Yeah," they said, "bye Amelia."
"Bye," Amelia said. They left and I got comfortable on my bed.
"They're Nice," Amelia said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Look at us making friends," Amelia chuckled.
"I know right," I said.
"I started my application today," Amelia said.
"So how'd it go?" I said.
"Pretty good," Amelia said, "if I submit it by next Sunday I'll know by the first week in October, not November."
"Well that's exciting!" I said.
"Yeah, my mom and I are finishing it after dinner," she said.
"That's amazing," I said.
"Yeah," she said and yawned.
"Is someone tired?" I chuckled, "I should be the one tired."
"I know," she chuckled, "but I got up at 6."
"You're too cute," I said.
"So are you," she said. She turned her head and I figured she was talking to her mom.
"Hey I gotta go eat dinner, I'll text you later. Go have fun with your friends," she smiled, "I love you."
"I will, good luck with the application, I love you too," I said and we hung up. It was hard, long distance with her, but we were making it work.
