3 days later
AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and felt Owen's arms around my waist.
"Good morning," he said softly.
"Good morning," I smiled. He leaned over and kissed me and I smiled.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he said. Today was our second to last day here. The beach was so nice and I got to spend almost every minute with Owen. My mom hasn't asked me if we've had sex again so I think she let it go. I walked downstairs with Owen and my mom was in the kitchen.
"Good morning," I said.
"Morning," she said, "Liz wants to go see the lighthouse this morning."
"Can I shower before?" I said.
"Yeah sure, it doesn't open until 10 anyway," she said.
"Okay," I said. Owen and I ate breakfast and then I went back upstairs to shower. I grabbed my clothes and opened the bathroom door.
"Amelia," Owen said as he walked into the bathroom.
"Yeah?" I said.
"I could shower too," Owen said. I chuckled and watched him bite his lip.
"You have to be quiet," I chuckled.
"I will," Owen said.
"Okay," I said and he locked the door behind him.
CAROLYNS POV
Everyone was getting ready for the day. I walked past Amelia and Owen's room and the water was still running, I figured Owen was probably in the shower so I opened the door but to my surprise nobody was in the room.
"Amelia?" I said.
"Yeah?" She said.
"Where's Owen?" I said.
"I think he's downstairs," she said.
"Or he's in the shower," I said. She didn't say anything and I heard the water turn off. She cracked the door open and was wrapped in a towel.
"Check downstairs," she said.
"Then why can't you open the door?" I said annoyed. She didn't say anything and opened the door and Owen wasn't wearing a shirt.
"It's not what it looks like," Amelia said.
"I'm sure you have a good lie for this one," I said. She didn't say anything and I knew she was panicking to come up with a lie.
"Fine it's what it looks like," she said.
"Oh is it?" I said.
"Can we talk about this while I'm not naked and wet?" She said.
"Fine," I said, "downstairs."
AMELIAS POV
Fuck. Shit. Shit. I'm so dead. I looked at Owen and scrambled to get dressed.
"I'm sorry it was my idea," Owen said.
"It's not your fault," I said.
"So do I have to go talk to your mom too?" He chuckled.
"No I'll deal with it," I said.
"Okay," he said, "I'm sorry."
"It's fine," I said and opened the door and walked downstairs. My mom was sitting at the counter straight up and I swallowed hard. I was in so much trouble.
"Hey," I said quietly.
"Sit," she said. I swallowed hard again and sat down next to her.
"Did you lie to me about the first time?" She asked. I looked at her and figured this was the time to tell the truth.
"Yes," I said.
"Have should been doing it the entire week?" My mom asked.
"No," I said, "that was the second time. Ever. I promise."
"Okay," she said.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"You're sorry you got caught," she said.
"I'm sorry I disappointed you," I said, hoping I could guilt my way out of this somehow.
"I'm not disappointed, but I'm angry," she said.
"It won't happen again," I said.
"You're right because you're sharing a room with Liz," she said.
"No mom please," I begged, "I'll leave the door open, I'll do whatever you want."
"No," my mom said.
"Mom," I said.
"I can't just let you be reckless and turn a blind eye every time!" She said. I looked at her and swallowed hard to prevent myself from crying.
"Why because you're scared I'll kill myself?" I said. She didn't say anything and exhaled.
"Yes," she said.
"It's not that big of a deal if we're using protection," I said.
"Yes it is," she said.
"Why?" I said.
"Because you're 15," She said.
"Okay and?" I said.
"Amelia," she sighed.
"What? I'm too reckless with my life? At least I'm not dead," I said and got up.
"We're going to enjoy the rest of this trip so we are leaving in 10," my mom said.
"Fine by me," I said.
CAROLYNS POV
Talking to Amelia was the worst. She gets so angry when she's annoyed or in trouble and it's impossible to talk to her.
"You know," Derek said as he walked into the kitchen, "she walks all over you because you let her." I sighed and knew he was right.
"Well what else am I supposed to do?" I said.
"Don't let her negotiate," Derek said, "or I could try to talk to her."
"If you really want to," I said, "I'm scared of being hard on her."
"Yeah and she knows that," Derek said, "she uses that against you all the time."
"I know that Derek," I said.
"I'm just saying," Derek said.
"If I ground her I'm afraid she'll do something," I said.
"I don't think she wants to die anymore," Derek said.
"Well I never thought she did at all," I said.
"I'll talk to her," Derek said.
DEREKS POV
I knocked on Amelias door. She opened the door and rolled her eyes.
"What?" She said.
"Can we talk?" I said.
"Sure," she said as we walked down the hallway and into my room.
"If you're going to lecture me like mom did it's no use," I said.
"Well unlike mom, we're going to have an actual conversation," I said, "since you can't walk all over me like you do to mom."
"She starts it," Amelia mumbled.
"She is trying to help you," I said.
"I don't see the big deal," she said as she sat down on my bed.
"It's because we want to protect you," I said.
"From Owen?" She scoffed.
"No," I said, "you're a kid Amelia."
"No I'm not," she said.
"Well you're the youngest, take it that way," I said.
"Are you telling me you're still a Virgin?" She said.
"That's not important," I said.
"Oh my god you are!" She said.
"Amelia," I said.
"You're going to lecture me and you're a fucking virgin!" She said.
"I'm not a Virgin shut up," I said.
"Yeah okay, you're a bad liar," she said.
"Can you listen?" I said.
"Fine," she said.
"Mom doesn't want you to be reckless okay? It's because she cares about you, and when you're reckless you're destructive, self destructive, and nobody, not me, mom, Liz, Owen, or anyone wants to see you spiral down again okay?" I said.
"Fine," she said, "I get it."
"You know what?" I said.
"What?" She said.
"Owen loves you, with or without the sex," I said.
"I know that," she said.
"But if you really want to, just make sure you're being safe okay? Nobody wants to see anything bad happen to you," I said.
"I don't know how to talk to mom," she admitted, "I want to, but then I do all this stupid shit and she treats me like I'm some baby who you have to walk around eggshells to talk to so that I don't do anything and I don't know how to talk to someone like that."
"If we're being honest she doesn't know how to talk to you," I said.
"Bullshit," she said.
"Why do you think I'm talking to you? She doesn't know how to talk to you because she's afraid of saying the wrong things, she wants to help you, but it's difficult for you two to communicate," I said.
"She could make herself easier to talk to," Amelia said.
"Oh because she's the hard one to approach," I chuckled. She chuckled and looked at me.
"You're right," Amelia chuckled, "I'm kind of a bitch."
"Hey all I'm saying is that try not to get all defensive every once in a while," I said.
"She's making Liz and I share a room," Amelia said.
"Well I mean," I chuckled, "she kinda caught you two in the shower."
"Yeah," she sighed, and I could tell something else was bothering her.
"Is there anything else you want to say?" I said.
"I feel like I keep messing it up," she said, "with mom, I hate that she's always worried about me. I feel like I'm always causing problems."
"Just talk to her, don't argue with her," Derek said, "you two will come around okay?"
