“Alam niya bang hindi naman talaga kayo kasal?” Gigi, awtomatiko ko siyang tinapunan ng masamang tingin sanhi para agaran niyang maitikom ang bibig niya.

“Shut it or I'll shoot you.” bumuga ako ng usok at inihagis sa harapan niya ang isang envelope na naglalaman ng pera. “Take it and leave.”

“Kumpleto ba 'to, bossing?” she asked giggling. “Sure ka na bang iyon lang ang ipapagawa mo? Mukhang sobra pala 'to.”

“That's all. Aside from that, you can leave this country now.” bored na sagot ko.

“Oki, boss. Larga na meh at kailangan ko pa itong hatiin sa'min ng mga beshy ko.”

I just rolled my eyes. Nang makaalis siya ay kami nalang ni Aleph ang natira sa buong kwarto, I puff my cigarette.

“I really don't know what's the point of all of these. All your reasons, I don't get it.” Aleph's nose bridge knotted.

I chuckle, “You will never get it.”

Naiiling na nagsalin nalang ito ng alak sa baso niya, “But what that woman said, your marriage is fake?”

“Yeah.” sagot ko habang pinapanood ang orasang pambisig ko. “It's fake. It's just a made-up story to make her stay. But what's the point? We're getting married soon.”

“I see. Won't you tell her that?”

“Too bad. She will never know.” ngisi ko.

Hindi makapaniwalang dinuro niya ako, “You're darker than I thought!”

“You know, I have to lie to make everything fall to its place. If I wouldn't, there's a big chance of losing her.” It's true. I have to make so many lies to protect her feelings, to preserve our relationship.

“Hindi ka ba nakokonsensya? I mean, it's better to be true to her.”

I shrugged, “I'm hiding in the dark, but my conscience is the darkness itself.” makahulugan kong sabi.

“And about your sins, you really killed her family?” he asked with a pair of widening eyes.

“I asked her father for permission back then, I even buy their house for her father to pay their debts, but all of that turns bad. He wants me to buy her daughter, I feel bad. He's selling her daughter to me, her lovely daughter. He has no conscience, so I killed him.”

“Even her mother and brother?”

“Yes, so I can take care of her.” I grin. “Didn't I already told you about these?”

“All I know is you killed her family, you didn't tell me the reason.”

“Man, just admit it. You forgot.” panunukso ko.

“I really don't know, douchebag!”

“Tch. And don't act like you have a good conscience, you're working in this black market so don't give me that damn act.” iling ko bago tumayo.

“You're leaving?”

“Yes. It's time, my wife is waiting for me.” I brushed my hair using my fingers.

“Hubbies world.” he joked. “Ah! One thing to ask, do you love her?”

Saglit ko siyang tinapunan ng tingin bago pinihit ang seradura ng pinto, “All I know is, I'm willing to die for her.”
