The Golden Heart (Yuno Grinberryall x reader)

Chapter 1- Clover Kingdom

I've known from a very young age that I was special.

That I was unlike any wizard in the entire kingdom

My point was reinforced the day I got my grimoire. The legendary gold book with a golden heart in the middle. It hadn't been seen in 3 centuries, but it chose me that day.

However, the greater the gift, the bigger the price.

My entire family was murdered in my own home. I had waken up at around 1am to get some water, when I saw the bodies of my mother, father, and older brothers on the floor. I was shocked and scared for my life

'What if I'm next?' That was something I asked myself out of anxiety. Unsure of what to do, I fled. I ran away from the kingdom. Where? I wasn't sure. I just knew I had to get out of there before it was my blood on the floor. I created a fake body of myself and messed it up enough that the authorities wouldn't be able to determine it was my body. With that, I turned away to the forest.

Days passed and I was unsure of my decision. It was hot, I didn't have any food and I was to afraid to sleep. I didn't even know where I was going, so I was pretty much lost. That's when I came across someone in the woods. I hid behind a tree, hoping he would leave, but he didn't.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to know who you are and what you're doing" he spoke. I let out a shaky sigh and stepped out, making eye contact with a tall male with sapphire hues. "Who are you?"

"My name is Y/n...I don't know where I am"

"You're in Clover kingdom"

'Oh crap. I wandered all the way to another kingdom! At least it wasn't diamond'

"Who are you?" I asked, unsure of the unknown man in front of me

"My name is Julius, I'm the Wizard king. You're not from here are you?"

"No...I'm from the Heart kingdom. My parents were murdered so I ran away"

"So you don't have anywhere to go?"

I sighed, looking up at the already setting sun. I'm going on my fourth day without sleep. "No, I've been moving for the past four days"

"Become a magic knight"

"Huh?"

"You need somewhere to stay don't you? We haven't had trouble with the Heart kingdom so you should be fine, plus, I'm guessing you haven't had much sleep"

"You don't understand...it's dangerous for me to stay here, I'll only bring you misfortune"

He laughed. "Nothing will happen...NOW WHATS YOUR MAGIC?!" His eyes began to glow and he got really close to me.

"Uhhh i can control all elements like fire, water, air, earth, ice, light, dark, etc"

His eyes got bigger and he began to smile. "Amazing!"

He took me back to the castle and called for someone. I looked out the window towards the kingdom, dozens of thoughts crossing my mind. What if I was putting the entire kingdom in danger with my presence? I was the most powerful in the kingdom, surely they'll figure out I'm not actually dead.

"Um sir Wizard king-"

"Sir Julius? You called for me" a strange man with a mask walked into the room. He wore a cloak with a sun on it and looked very sophisticated

"William, thank you for coming here so quickly. This is Y/n. She's come from the Heart kingdom. I was hoping you could give her a place in your squad"

He looked at me, a gentle smile on his face. "Sure. She seems promising"

"I really don't think that's-"

"Then It's settled" the Wizard king clapped his hands together. "Congratulations on joining Golden Dawn. This is your Captain, William Vangeance"

"Thank you very much!" I bowed to him and he let out a light laugh

"You don't have to bow" I looked back up to him handing me a cloak similar to his. "Let's get back to the base"

Captain William and I left the room and started making our way back. I debated telling him the truth and explaining just exactly who I was, but I didn't want to get kicked out. Then again, I'm already putting the entire kingdom in danger by being here.

"Is something on your mind?" He broke me out of my train of thought

"Captain, it's dangerous for me to be in your squad, even to be in the kingdom"

"Because you come from the Heart kingdom? We haven't had trouble with them in the past so I don't think you have anything to worry about"

"It's not that simple..." I paused for a minute. "I'm your kingdom it's extremely rare to have a four leaf clover grimoire right?"

He nodded his head.

"Well in the Heart kingdom" I pulled out my grimoire. "Having a gold grimoire with a golden heart in the middle is even more rare, it hasn't shown up for many centuries, so I don't think they'll be happy with the fact that I left"

"Why did you leave?" We stopped walking and took a seat outside headquarters

"The night I got my grimoire, four days ago, my family was murdered in our own home. I left because I was afraid I would die"

"And now you're afraid that they'll come after you?"

I nodded my head. "I only managed to slip out of the kingdom because I was able to deactivate the security system of sorts for a few seconds without her noticing"

Captain William stayed quiet. "I managed to create a fake body for myself but I don't know how long they'll believe it"

"That should buy you some time though. Here's what we'll do, I know someone that can create a fake cover for your grimoire, making it look like you're actually from here."

My eyes widened and I looked at him. "R-Really?!"

He smiled. "Would that make you feel better?"

"Y-Yeah thank you"

"Oh one more thing" he started. "The Wizard king mentioned your magic to me. To keep suspicion low, you should only use 2 elements maximum"

"Hmm okay I'll use light and dark only. They're the ones I have the most control over"

Captain William nodded his head and we began walking into headquarters. A lot of the members were walking through talking to each other, then they laid eyes on me. I felt their intense gazes and shuddered, moving a little closer behind the Captain.

"Don't worry, they just haven't seen you before, they're waiting for me to announce you as a new member."

"R-Right"

He stopped walking and turned to me. "It's getting late though, I'll introduce you tomorrow. For now, I'll take you to the room you'll be staying at. I'll come by tomorrow morning to show you around"

Captain William took me to my room and bid me goodnight. I analyzed the room, searching corner to corner for anything that looked suspicious. After finding nothing I flopped on my bed.

That's brings us to where we are now

I blow out the candle illuminating the room and close my eyes, trying to sleep for the first time in 4 days. I toss and turn for what seems like hours, but see only 5 minutes has passed. I sigh opening my grimoire.

'Maybe if I burn some energy I'll get tired'

I start playing with my light magic and as expected, start to get sleepy. Though it's surprising it didn't hit me before, I fell back on my pillow, finally succumbing to the dark.
