Aaliyah:
It's weird, marriage. It's like this license that gives a person the right to control their spouse's life and sometimes their happiness.
But there is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human, in not having to be just happy or just sad, in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time.
Here I am, Almost ready for Kim's fancy birthday party sponsored by her boyfriend when I saw Ammar by my door staring at me intently.
He is leaning his tall perfectly tailored suited frame against the doorway watching me, clearly amused as I frantically tried to zip up my beautiful black dress and failing miserably.
The suit he wore hugged him in all the right places, giving whisper of the muscles that lay beneath.
"Walter" I screamed
"Why do you need Walter right now?" Ammar asked
"Oh, I'm having trouble zipping up. I want him to help me out" I said, as I tried so hard to contain the laughter crawling up my throat
"Are you out of your mind? dummy." He asked, and I just gave him a knowing look
Ammar didn't disappoint me, He quickly came forward and zipped me up. All I needed to do is to not ask him nicely or act like I needed his help.
"I'm ready, we better get going, we are running late". I said as soon as he finished zipping me up.
"The chauffeur is taking you there, I'm going with my friends" Ammar said
"What a waste, let's not stress the chauffeur at this hour. We can part ways as soon as we arrive, I know you don't want to be seen with me" I told him
"Stop wasting my time drama queen, Zarah is waiting for me to pick her up. I don't want to keep her waiting, that wonderful soul" Ammar said as he started making his way to the garage and I quickly followed suit.
On hearing that, my facial expression immediately changed and I felt a stabbing pain in my chest. I didn't know the Zarah but I already feel like choking her to death.
Ammar was enjoying it, he has a wide smile plastered on his face as he saw the look on mine.
"Wow, that's more like it" He said as he kept walking
"you're not going with her, whoever she might be" I said outrightly
"Let me rephrase," I added, sharper than barbed steel. "I'm coming with you."
"Excuse me?" Ammar said, and he came to a sudden stop, forcing me to do the same.
"You'll go wherever I send you and with whoever I send you."
"I'm not—" I began
"Don't interrupt me when I'm talking." Ammar spat out
I sealed my lips immediately not wanting to piss him off more than he already is.
"Our relationship is simple," he told me. "I say 'Jump, and you say 'Through which window Ammar?
"You don't make demands of me, you don't get to chose what you want. Are we clear?" He asked
