~When one door closes, another opens. But often, we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us~

Ammar:

A charity gala is the hallmark of traditional checkbook philanthropy for decades, and the majority of these events follow the same formula: Hold the event in a hotel or convention space with an hour of cocktails followed by a chicken dinner, a video and a speaker to heighten emotions, and then an hour (or more) of the dreaded, drawn-out live auction with the local celebrity.

Here I am, dressed up for the event as though I am a masterpiece, defining my personal style.

I am wearing my "Alexander Amosu Vanquish II Bespoke" which costs $101,860. I specifically bought it for the charity Gala. It's made from two of the most expensive wools in the world: rare vicuna and qivuik, and was custom-made for me. It was delivered to me a few days ago in an armored van. The suit has 9 buttons of 18 carat gold and diamonds.

As I walked down the stairs, I couldn't help but notice Zarah's amazed expression.

"You look dashing" she said, as soon as our eyes met.

I invited "Zarah" to the event as my plus one just to spite Aaliyah.

After exchanging pleasantries, We waited for Aaliyah in the living room for over thirty minutes but there was no sign of her. I wonder if she is waiting for the event to be over before she gets out of the house.

"Zarah is here, come and offer her some water, or tea, or juice or anything" I shouted, when I got tired of waiting

"Oh, she knows where the fridge is, she should help herself" Aaliyah answered, clearly unbothered by the fact that zarah is here

After a few minutes, I heard footsteps. I raised my head and when I saw Aaliyah in her lovely dress, I was conquered. I could barely swallow or breathe, I just froze. When you're frozen in time, nothing else really seems to matter.

The Grecian styled black gown she was wearing hugged her body tightly, making all her curves and backside where my eyes lingered for a second too long visible.

Around the middle, the float material bunches under a collection of silver rhinestones, draping down to the floor and flattering her every curve. The color complemented her caramel skin

To top it all up, She is holding "LANA MARKS CLEOPATRA CLUTCH", One of The priciest handbags to have ever been sold. It costs a fortune and is a favourite among high-profile celebrities. The small, luxurious and stunning bag is made of fine crocodile leather and features 1,160 diamonds. It looks simple and elegant and it comes with an 18-karat gold chain, that can be used as a strap and is detachable. What adds up to its value is the fact that only 13 pieces of this handbag were ever created.

"We are going to the event with zarah as my plus one" I said, as soon as I regained my composure

She squints and tilt her head with a small smirk

"We?" She asked, clearly amused

"Yes, Aren't you going?" I asked, scratching the back of my head with an awkward grimace

"I'm taking my car, see you guys there" she said, with a small wave.

She laughed melodically as she made her way to the garage, leaving me and zarah speechless

I watched her from behind, as if locked away
and stealing the distinct pleasure of a high school marching band drum section's pure perfection. How stoically she walked out of the house
