~ The remarkable journey of a person lies in his visions and not a followed path of anyone else~

Yasmeen:
I woke up this morning, cold, alone and without the comfort of my soft blanket. I barely even had any sleep, but I was hoping to sleep like a baby as soon as we reach our honeymoon destination.
I was not aware that our flight is taking off from a city that is three hours away from our home city until now. I bet Ahmad and habiba his sister had a change of plans again, but I was the last person to know.
We set out early in the morning, hoping to spend the night at a honeymoon suit that Habiba has booked for us before heading to our final destination.
Ahmad told me she got us a place called "quaint exotic". What an odd name, I thought.
But my husband told me it's a very nice place with a seven course breakfast, so I got so eager to see the place. Though We are having trouble locating it.
After straining my neck for hours, I managed to spot a collapsed, old, worn out sign board by the side of the road supported by a rock with the name "Quaint Exotic"
If by "quaint exotic" the owners meant "dilapidated haunted house," they were right.
Perhaps the description was wishful thinking. The bed and breakfast was complete with turrets, eerie archways, and windows that looked like frowning eyes staring at you.
It turns out that the room she booked for us had a theme. With a collection of very interesting rag dolls all with beady little eyes lining the dressers and walls.
My guess is that the honeymoon suite was the "demon-possessed doll room." And I'm not talking about those sweet Precious Moments figurines. I'm talking about the dolls in horror movies that come alive after dark.
We surprisingly survived the night without being attacked by a zombie, only to be woken at 6:30am by the breakfast bell. We pulled ourselves out of bed, wiped the sleep out of our eyes, and made our way to breakfast.
"I am sure that this seven-course breakfast will be worth the lack of sleep," I told Ahmad, trying to put a positive spin on the situation. Ahmad just nodded
Well the first course of the seven-course breakfast was a cucumber. I kid you not, it was literally green vegetables.
The second course was Pap. "Good to start the day off with a roar" our host stated.
The third course was cereal, so our day could be "full of life." She said
The fourth course was a banana, and it was pretty small and over ripe.
The fifth course was toast that was somehow both burnt and soggy. The sixth course was a cup of tea or a glass of orange juice, but not both.
The final course was a bowl of scrambled eggs. Or maybe I should say scrambled egg there definitely was only one per person. In the end, our seven-course breakfast contained less food than the average Super 8 continental breakfast.
We ended up spending the night at a honeymoon suit that looks like a Halloween haunted house
After breakfast, we headed to the airport only to find out that we had no tickets. Ahmad's sister is in charge of our tickets and she said she put them in the glove compartment of his car.
After searching tirelessly, he decided to give her a call.
"Habiba, where did you put our tickets? I can't find them anywhere" Ahmad said
"The glove compartment" she answered
"It's not there"
"I'm sure I put them in there, you might have lost them somewhere" Habiba finally said, without remorse and she hang up.
Ahmad gave up, He told me that his brother in-law owns a beach house and he offered to let us honeymoon there when he heard about our situation.
We found ourselves at Ahmad's brother in-laws beach house for lunch. It ended up being a meal full of laughs, as we swapped stories with his step sister and her husband, who had apparently stayed in a similar bed and breakfast the night of their wedding years earlier.
So, it's the night time, My husband has left to go get us some roasted chicken. While he's out I decide that I'm going to get into a cute little lingerie set that I'd bought especially for the night because I wanted to look smokin' while getting it on with my hot hubby.
I'm in the bathroom getting done up when I heard the door to the room open. Thinking that it was my husband returning, I decide to waltz out and surprise him in my risqué little number. Except it wasn't my husband returning, It was my mother-in-law.
"My first reaction was to scream because 1. What the fuck was she doing here? 2. Why is she in our room? and 3. I was practically naked.
I race to grab my robe, which is on the bed, and cover myself up.
"Where are your manners?" my mother in-law screamed with her hands on her chest like she was about to have a heart attack.
"Children of these days are shameless" she continued, while gasping for breath
Her sister came running when she heard ummy's screams. when she saw what's going on, she gave Ummy a puzzled look and asked "but why are you here?"
"It's none of your business" Ummy shot back
"I thought it was Ahmad at the door, that's why I came out" I shyly explained
Ahmad came just in time to witness the drama. "What's happening?" He asked
"I heard some terrifying sounds, so I came to check it out and Yasmeen appeared before me naked, what none sense is this?" Ummy said
"Ummy calm down, let me take you to your room so that you'll lay down and catch your breath" Ahmad quickly said
"Not so fast, I can't take this type of indecency again. Yasmeen, pack your things, you'll be spending the night with the girls from now on and Ahmad with the guys" Ummy told us
"But Ummy we......" Ahmad retorted
"This is not a request, it's an order from the woman that carried you for nine months in her womb" Ummy interrupted Ahmad
I started packing my bags as soon as she left, This is when Ahmad decides to tell me that his mother and some of his siblings have decided to treat themselves to a holiday after all the wedding stress and are in the same house with us.
On hearing that, I instantly knew that there was never a ticket or a honeymoon planned. it was just a big fat scam carefully planned and well thought out. I and Ahmad staying in the beach house with my in-laws was the plan all along.
They stayed at the beach house and invited the rest of the family. Aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone. Over 20 people in a six-bedroom beach house. For a week.
When I suggested we just go rent a motel room for the week, Ahmad freaked out because we might offend someone. Sure enough, when we left to merely go for a walk on the beach, multiple people flipped out because we weren't spending time with the family. We never had any private moments.
Whenever Ahmad tries to touch me or even sits with me on the same couch, he gets a glare from Ummy. Or a certain sound to notify him of her presence.
And that is how our honeymoon was ruined, we went back home along with everyone else.
