Remnant's Only Tenno [Warframe x RWBY]

The Beacon Dance and the Stalker

This chapter was a bit of a challenge, since I want to use as little of the RWBY episodes as possible. I want Skye's story to be just that. A story. By using RWBY episodes as a guideline, I'm basically injecting Skye into the RWBY story, rather than making her own. This story is about a Tenno in the RWBY universe, not RWBY with Tenno in it. So expect very little connection to the main story. And since it's a story about a teacher, Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch will be more major characters than the students.

That being said, enjoy part 1 of a two part chapter!

Skye lay inside of her Orbiter, alone. The students had long gone back to the dorms, and now, the Tenno was listening to ancient tunes from back home. Banshee knelt at the window, an empty suit, ready to accept Transference at any time, but Skye didn't plan on it. It had been a long time since she was able to relax. The simple twangs and strums of the Shawzin dreamily echoed through the halls.

I wish I knew how to play one. The Tenno thought. Though she had purchased one, she honestly had no clue how to use it. Whenever she played, it usually came out as an ugly scratching and cartoonish bouncing noise. Nothing like the elegant flow of what her somachord was playing.

The song ended with the lingering sound, and now, there was nothing but silence in her ship. Claw and Hook wandered into the room occasionally, wanting to be pet, before leaving after Skye granted their wish.

"I wonder how Konzu and Eudico are doing..." muttered the Tenno. She remembered fondly the two leaders of their respective.... Clans? Organizations? She didn't know how to describe them. But that didn't doing anything to lower her view of them.

"If only everyone were like those two. Then maybe we wouldn't be warring with each other. And we could actually do something to the Sentients." Skye said to herself, and closed her eyes, letting the gentle waves of sleep wash her away.

She heard the chime-like call of the Sentients. The black void of sleep around her opened to the ruins of Lua, the Orokin Moon. She saw a black and gold Warframe, kneeling on the ground, screaming in grief. Then an Orokin, followed by a large Sentient blasted the Warframe. She heard no words, no sounds of human speech. All she heard was the howl of pain as the Warframe was burned to pieces.

Skye sat bolt upright, her breath coming raggedly and unevenly. Her body was drenched in sweat, the insides of her Zariman jumpsuit sticky and gross.

"Operator?! I'm detecting highly irregular heart rate and low hydration levels! Are you alright?!" Ordis popped in urgently. Skye took a moment to catch her breath, then said, "...water..."

"O-of course, Operator." On her somachord table, a small cup of water was ejected, filled almost to the brim. Skye grabbed the cup and drained it without taking a breath. She swallowed too fast and coughed harshly.

"I saw a Warframe..." she mumbled, "One I didn't recognize."

"That's not possible, Operator. You have collected every possible Warframe. There is no way that you have missed one. All known Warframes are in the Codex, and you have unlocked every single one."

"I-I know, but I can't shake off what I saw. There's another Warframe out there."

"Even so Operator, you have new responsibilities. Your duties as a teacher now outweigh your duties as a Tenno. We still do not know a way to return home."

"I-I guess..." Skye turned to the window and looked out at the night sky. The stars gleamed back at her, reminding her that somewhere, there was a war. A war that she couldn't fight in.

The Beacon Dance was in full swing. Students danced, chatted and joked while teachers watched. Skye was leaning against the wall as Banshee, now gracefully standing in her full Orokin pride, her Prime form. The strange wire hanging off of her head wobbled to the occasional wind, and her metallic faceplate shone a brilliant gold.
