Part 2: Reunion and Apology

Feast your eyes! It's a bonus chapter! Woooooooooo! I had extra chapters saved up, and waiting another 4 days for the deadline without working on this story seemed boring. The deadlines keep me keen.

The wonderful scent of hot pot and other small side dishes drifted through the air, along with the ominous scent of smoke. Skye and Qrow led the newcomers to the living room. You could hear the chatter of team RNJR as they tried to cook things that didn't only require boiling.

"Ruby!" Qrow called.

"Hang on, Uncle Qrow! I'll be there in a second!" the high pitched voice of the small girl echoed through the house.

Yang looked at Skye, who shrugged. Again, the scent of smoke came through the kitchen, followed by Ruby's panicked shouting. Qrow sighed, then called her again, "Ruby!"

"Okay, okay!" They heard the clatter of porcelain tea sets, then her footsteps. Ruby walked in, her eyes set on the tea set on the platter in her hands, making sure she didn't drop it.

"So, we didn't know how many people were coming, so we just cooked all of it," she said. Then she looked up, and saw her sister.

Her silver eyes widened at the sight of Yang. Her hands lost the strength to carry the platter, and the tea set shattered on the floor, the yellow color of the tea spreading staining the wood. At first, the expression on her face relayed surprise, then fear, then shame. Her eyes were downcast, unwilling to make eye contact with her sister.

Yang took a few steps towards Ruby, before stopping just behind the coffee table. The black-haired girl's hands drew closer to her chest, as if trying to hide from the blonde in front of her.

Then, she spoke. "Yang! I... I'm so sorry!" she stammered. She kept trying to speak, panic carrying the words out of her mouth, "I-I-I should've stayed, and I should've talked to you more a-and I just-" tears were streaming from her guilt ridden eyes now. "I-I wasn't sure if you wanted me around, and-"

Yang stepped forward and embraced her sister tightly. For a moment, Ruby was stunned, before returning the gesture.

"...I love you." Yang said.

Ruby shook slightly, unsure how to react. Finally, she said, "I-I love you too!" before burying her face in her sister's shoulder. The rest of team RNJR walked out to see what was happening, and they all smiled at the sight of the reunion of the two sisters. Qrow and Skye smiled too. Meanwhile, Weiss looked down, sadly acknowledging that the two sisters were family, and that she shouldn't get in the way.

"Weiss." Ruby called to her friend. The pale girl looked up to see her former teammates leaving room for her in their hug. She obliged happily.

Skye and Qrow sat at the coffee table, letting the kids catch up with each other. Both enjoyed the savory taste of their hot pot, washing it down with the refreshing new pot of tea that Ruby had made after she cleaned up the old set.

"It's good to see that Yang and Weiss are here now," Skye said.

Qrow nodded agreement. "Are you gonna be okay around Yang though?"
