Aaaaand we return to the Blades. IDK if you guys enjoy seeing these characters. I think they're fun to write, and a nice change of pace to just copying RWBY characters.

The background image is a special one. A few weeks ago I wondered what Skye would look like as an anime character and asked for any artist friends to draw her on my social media. After about three or so weeks, my classmate Talia sent me this. Pretty close to what I imagined her to look like.

Let me know what you think about the Blades, the art, or just the story in general!

Enjoy!

The Wanderer glided past Europa, only a few hours left from the Void. So far, the four Blades didn't meet any resistance, though they did have to shoot down a few asteroids. As they passed the frozen moon, they were presented with a brilliant view of the Sun. The Tenno all stood in awe at the core of their home, glowing brightly. The distant stars glittered dimly compared to it, the surrounding planets orbiting the massive star, adding to the grandiose appearance.

"Do you guys ever wonder what it was like during the Anno Domini?" Trinity asked, watching the Sun.

"What do you mean?" Oberon replied.

"Back then, 20 million years ago, humans didn't even have consistent space travel, and even when they did get out here, they could only travel short distances. So I wonder, how did they live their life on Earth? Even non-combat civilizations like the Ostrons and Solaris are oppressed by Grineer and Corpus, while the Entrati are stuck with the Infestation everywhere. Back then, none of it was a concern."

Rhino grunted, "The Oracle said that even then, before humanity was able to live in space, war was everywhere. Humans always found a reason to kill each other."

Trinity sighed, "I know. It seems like the human part of all of us, Tenno, Grineer, Corpus, will always find a reason to fight each other." The rest of the group remained silent as the Sun grew smaller and smaller, while the bright green and blue pulses of energy from the Void grew more and more frequent.

They were surrounded by Void energy now. Each of them shuddered slightly at the memory of the Zariman Ten Zero.

"It's still here, somewhere..." Saryn murmured.

"Brace yourselves: high Void activity ahead," Cy stated. The Wanderer rumbled as massive waves of Void energy crashed into the Railjack. The hull creaked dangerously, before the wave passed. The Blades, who grabbed onto the system control unit to prevent themselves from falling, looked at the forward window. A massive shadow that they were sure wasn't there before had appeared. It was wide, and was shaped like two cones were attached at the base.

Under his helmet, Oberon squinted, "Is that a-"

"Warning: Murex detected," Cy said monotonically.

"Oh shi-" Saryn began.

"BATTLE STATIONS, NOW!" Rhino roared into the ship's intercom system. The crew, a bunch of Relay operators and Solaris engineers, scrambled into the armory, grabbing Omnis, and running to the engine room. Saryn and Oberon sprinted to the starboard and port gunning stations. Trinity bullet jumped to the pilot's seat, and Rhino stayed at the system command unit.

While Trinity was the oldest Blade, she wasn't talented at commanding squads in a Railjack. She was more suited to teaching new Tenno. When it came to the massive ships, Rhino took charge, and he knew that he would never have the luxury of staying quiet during a Railjack mission.
