Present day - Lexi's POV

I never forgot the day I fell in love with sumo. Being someone in the western part of the world compared to the origin of the sport made it difficult to talk about it with my friends as they weren't interested. I never missed a competition on live stream and even went as far as to follow some of the strengthening exercises for my own benefit. I was lucky enough to find some people who would have mock bouts with me.

Those people taught me a lot to which I am thankful for, because I must say, all that training is certainly paying off today....

No one's POV

The cheers of the crowd was deafening as they watch the one of the two only females on the field, bearing the No. 6 flanker position on the team, tackle the captain of the opposing team before stealing the ball and making a dash for it to the goal line scoring a try.

"There it is ladies and gentlemen" the commentator screams into the microphone. "There's the super low tackle from the young tigress. I can't believe she was able to tackle someone almost twice her size. What do you think Bob?"

"Its truly amazing Steve" the second commentator adds "to think someone who is only 5'6" taking down guys around 6'5"+. I remember when she first appeared with Sky, no one thought that they could be two of the best players in rugby in the world. But Lexi and Sky have certainly proved us wrong".

Lexi's POV

Apologises for later introduction everyone. My name is Lexi Carter. I'm 17 years old and I am from England - London girl through and through. Appearance wise I'm your typical red head with pale skin, blue eyes and ton of freckles on my arms and shoulders and couple on my face. As the above commentators might have hinted, I'm a rugby player and have earned the nickname 'Tigress'. Why you may ask. I don't really believe it but apparently, according to the team, when I am focused on a target, like a predator, I hunt and upon my attack I reveal my claws and fangs.
Yeah right (eye roll)....that's a bit too dramatic to me. I think its because of the colour of my hair and I'm fast moving.

Anyway you did hear correctly I'm the one of only two girls in an all male rugby team. Yeah I known its a bit odd but who cares.

The other one is Sky McGregor. Sky is my best friend and plays fly half position. She is the brains of the team and has taught me a few things. We made a promise to hit the rugby world together and I think we have certainly shocked them.

I love the sport and I enjoy playing with the team. I stand at 5'6" and have a lean body with muscles in the right places but not bulky. Let's get that straight. I'm decent figure and I have my strength but I am not overly muscular.

Moving swiftly on, I'm the daughter of a renowned rugby player, Jack Sinclair, who lead his team to more victories then losses. You're probably wondering why our last names are different....well I wanted to enter the professional rugby world without my dad's name attached to me in order to keep the pressure off of me to be good and also to stop any rumours of favouritism. Didn't need the drama.

"Time is running out folks. The England squad are 2 points behind of the challenging New Zealanders, the renowned All Blacks. It certainly is a close game for the championship title. Ah there goes the Fly Half for the All Blacks.....oooh god his about to kick the ball to the Winger waiting for him near England's goal line".

The sounds from the crowd, the panting of the players, the beating of my heart. I can hear everything and see everything on the pitch. I zone in on my target.
This is why I choose rugby and thanks to the additional sumo training I am who I am today.....

"And the ball is released from the hands of the Fly Half. How far will this kick go?"

The Fly half is good. He's one of the best players I have had the privilege to play against. But guess what....I'm better.

Swoosh

"Oh my god" the commentator shouted. "Did you see that? Did you all just see that? How did she do it? Lexi just appeared in front of the Fly Half and took the ball as it was dropping to be kicked. Go Lexi go".

The way ahead of me was far from being clear with four of the opposing team's players running towards me, but I can handle these guys. Duck lift, duck right, weave in and out, use the leg muscles and power I have built not only through rugby but through sumo too.

One player to go and I decided to use my favourite move - ducking between their legs when they try and grab me. I sprint to the goal line as if my life depended on it and on reflection, if one of these guys tackled me then, yeah I guess it is my life I'm running for. My legs feel heavy, my heart feels like its about burst out of my chest and my vision blurs as I leap and slide over the goal line on my belly.

Fweet fweet fweet - the whistle blows. Game over. We win. The Championship is ours.

I sit up on my knees, panting, looking up at the clear blue sky and hear the roar of the crowd. Then very quickly have my face smashed into the dirt followed by crushing, sweaty hugs from my team mates.
"Guys I can't breathe and you lot stink", I cry out.
"Haha you don't smell much better Lexi", the oh so insulting jerk is my captain, Tyler O' Connor, a gentle giant on most days but at the moment I think he is trying to crush my spine with his hug.

"Tyy...lller....caaanttt....brrreeeatheee".

"Crap sorry Lexi", immediately releasing me and I gulped the much needed oxygen. I looked around at the giant wall of my team all hugging, laughing and crying at the same time which is quite a neat quirk.

Sky comes running up and pulls me into a hug, "We did it Lexi. We won".
I hugged her back and replied "Thanks to you Sky and the tactics you put together. We couldn't have won without you".

"Come on guys let's thank the other team and properly celebrate afterwards?" Coach called out.

With the biggest smile stretching across my face, we walked to where the other team was lined up and shook hands. Despite the fact we won and I'm over the moon about it, I can't help but acknowledge and respect the opponents. Although they didn't win, they gave it their all and no one can take it away from them.

The next few of hours went by in a blur with the ceremony, photographs and more hugging and crying. Before I knew it, it was dark and I was on my way home wanting some food and my bed. As I reach home in the quiet cul-de-sac, I could see the lights were on meaning dad was home.

Entering the house I yelled "Dad I'm home". I immediately get a response "I'm in the living room and we have a guest. So watch your language".
I rolled my eyes and shouted back as I was taking my shoes off "Pot meet kettle maybe dad. You swear more than me".
He replied "Yeah I know, but you're my kid and you take after me so watch it". I couldn't help but chuckle because its true. I am a daddy's girl and being in a single parent household, I tend to take after him a little too much. As I rounded the corner I was tackled into yet another bone crushing hug from my dad. "Caaannnt.....brrrreeaaathheee".

"Let the poor girl go Jack. You've always been ridiculously emotional around her". I heard a lightly accented masculine voice say, which sounded familiar, whilst I was trying to pull away from my dad. Luckily before any damage can be done I was released from the bone crushing hug. "I can't help it. My little girl has become so amazing and now she's a champion. How could I not be happy Shunkai?"

"Shunkai?" I looked around my dad and saw an elderly Japanese male with white wearing a kimono standing in our living room and smoking.

"Hello, little tigress" he said in English with a heavy accent "It's been a while".
