Lexi’s POV
I did it.
I passed my test for my driving licence.
That one piece of paper to say I can officially drive now is like a gift from heaven. I have been practising for weeks and going over the theory with Altan and she has been the best to keep my secret.
I ran to where my dad and the rest of my family were sitting, “Dad, Altan, Batb” they all look up from their breakfast and dad was the first to ask, “Where’s the fire girl? What has you so excited this early?"
I looked over to Altan and held up the paper. She smiled and stood up to hug me in return, “Well done sweetie. I’m so proud of you”.
“Thanks Altan”, I pulled back and looked at dad and Batb who had question marks floating around their heads. “What have you two been up to?”, dad asked with a raised eyebrow. I walked over and gave him the piece paper and he read over it. Dad turned and smiled at me, “Well done for getting your licence Lexi. So that’s what you’ve been sneaking around doing. Now you need to find yourself a car”.
“Yeah, I don’t need anything too fancy, but it needs to be big enough for Shido and the others to fit in, since I will have to drive him around when he turns pro”, I explained.
“Oh, so you’re thinking that far ahead Lexi-chan being by Tennoji-san’s side”, Altan joked giving me a coy smile. I blushed slightly, but nodded my head. My dad coughed, “Alright, this weekend we’ll head over to the car sales place and we’ll see what they have” he smiles. I ran over and hugged him around his neck as he was still sitting down trying to eat his breakfast, “Thanks dad”.
Batb came up next to me and hugged me, “Well done sis. Big bro Tennoji will be happy”. I hugged him back, “I know he will, but we’re not going to say anything until I actually have a car. I want to surprise him”.
“No problem sis”.
For the rest of the week it was not difficult to keep my driving licence a secret. What was difficult was trying to stop Batb from spilling the beans. Every time he opened his trap, I was on tender hooks that he would tell the guys about looking for a car.
I think Shido knew was something was going on, especially when I said that I couldn’t spend Saturday with him and the weekend was leading up to White Day.
Now before I moved to Japan, I had no idea that here, Valentine’s Day was mainly for women to give gifts to men and White Day was when the men gave gifts to women. Interesting right?
I felt a bit bad because as much as I wanted to tell him about getting a car, but I also wanted it to be a surprise.
I was able to avoid all sorts of approaches from Shido and the rest of the group to find out information, before the weekend arrived. On that Saturday as a family with Batb, Altan and dad we went to buy my first car.
Upon reaching the car sale garage, I knew I would be here for a little while. There were rows and rows of vehicles.
‘Well fingers crossed I’ll find something’ I thought with a bounce in my step.
