For the first time, I'm glad we are not in the same room. I entered the room and saw no one was here. I cleaned myself up and went to bed, still feeling the tears seeping onto my pillow before darkness consumed me.
************************************Lexi’s POV
The next day was no better.
Shido was still in this phase.
Kayla and Saki were supportive and stayed next me, seeing how I can do nothing for my man.
I stood on the side lines and watched as Shido devoured his opponents. I even heard him say “Get lost” to one opponent before slamming him into the ground. Each time he went out, he didn’t place his forehead against mine nor did he look in my direction.
I turned to look at the next match and it seems that Shido wasn’t the only one in the spotlight.
Sosuke won each match so calm and composed, it was frightening.
Ushio was back and winning matches against huge opponents. ‘He’s elbow is holding up. Uncle Shiba must have taken him to see that quack of a doctor’, I thought as I watched Ushio slam a giant into the ground.
The next team match was the semi-finals and it was Hakurou against Odachi.
I walked to our warm up area and the atmosphere surrounding the team was thick with tension. I know everyone wants to win this one for Shido to fight against Sosuke again, so the pressure was on. I saw Shido with his back to me, so I motioned with my head for the others to leave; which thankfully they did.
I took a deep breath before I walked over and spoke to Shido, “Are you finished pouting yet?” I asked irritated that he has created this distance between us. I was met with silence and I snapped, shouting, “Will you cut the crap Shido? You’re about to face Onimaru again and in this state. It’s pathetic. What happened with Sosuke is now the past, you need to snap out of it and look towards the next round because if you keep dwelling on this, you will lose”.
Shido rounded and stood in front of me so fast that it surprised me, but I didn’t flinch. “Is that what you would like to see, huh? Miss undefeated Tigress. You don’t know what it’s like to fight on your own. All you have to do is twitch that arse of yours and smile and no one blames you. I bet that’s why you’ve been crowned the best amongst guys, because they’re are suckers for you”, he snarled.
I slapped him hard across the face and I felt the tears flow down my cheeks, “I don’t know who you are right now in front of me. I don’t like what I’m seeing. A lost hurts, but it makes you stronger. A lost doesn’t make you weak. The being you are now is just a shield, making you a coward to face reality. Come back to me, please Shido”, I pleaded, but all he did was stand there and look at me with those hollow eyes.
“Can the Tottori Hakuro team and Odachi High team please come to ring for the next match?”, was announced.
Shido just looked ahead and walked straight pass me. I didn’t turn around. I couldn’t go to that ring. I just stood there and let the tears fall.
I felt a pair of arms go around me and I looked up to see Sada. I tried to feebly push him away, but he just pulled me tighter, whispering, “Just let it go, Lexi-chan. No one is here to watch”. That’s all it took for me to cry my heart out. I settled down after a while and pulled away, “Thank you Sada-kun”.
