Epilogue

Lexi’s POV

The competition ended successfully and it seems Jinou was not going to retire. Ushio and Reina finally got married and Sae-san and Hori were finally together. Yay, happy couples all around.

Speaking of happy couples, since I was only due in a few days, Shido has been taking the protective husband role to the max. I couldn’t pick anything up, nor go shopping on my own nor overtax myself at the stable. As much as I love him, he pisses me off from time to time, and I made it known that I didn’t appreciate being treated like I was useless.

I also finally made the decision to retire from professional rugby. As much as I love rugby, knowing I was pregnant, I didn’t want to harm my little one or lose any time with them. I would from time to time visit the teams to oversee training, but that would be about it.

With my due date coming closer and closer, my little one has certainly grown and it looks like I’ve swallowed a beach ball. I remember when at uncle Shiba’s stable, Terahara made a comment similar, I ended up bursting into tears. It took over an hour for me to calm down. That night, Shido laid his head next to my tummy, slowly petting it and talking to our child. Telling them how excited he was to meet them and promised to keep them safe. We decided to keep the baby’s gender a surprise. After all, that’s one of the best surprises in life.

I’m currently sitting next to Master Shuuyun watching the guys train. Uncle Shiba’s stable was training with us, so Saki and Hori were keeping me company, whilst Ushio and Shido fought in the ring. My back has been killing me all day. I can’t seem to shake the achiness away and was constantly fidgeting. So I decided to walk up and down along the edge of the dojo, trying to relieve the feeling. Saki stayed next to me, probably just to keep an eye on me. She tried to make small talk, but unfortunately I was too busy trying to keep from grimacing at the pain.

“Break time” the Master calls out. Batb walks over, “You okay sis? You’re not looking too well”, he says, putting his hand on my shoulder. I hold his hand in appreciation for caring, “I’m okay Batb. It’s just.....aaahhhh”. I didn’t even finish my sentence before a searing pain slashes right across my stomach. I grab the nearest thing to steady myself as I double over in pain, which just happen to be Batb’s hand and crash it, “Ow ow ow ow ow ow” I hear him say. I can’t speak. This is an unimaginable feeling. I focus on my breathing and feel something spill down my leg.

Shit.

My water just broke.

No one’s POV

Dojikiri was talking with Onimaru and Kirihito when he heard Batb shout, “Ow ow ow ow ow ow”. He looks over and saw Lexi was holding her stomach, doubled over whilst grabbing onto Batb with a white knuckle grip. Dojikiri wastes no time and was by her side in moments. As he reaches for Lexi, she suddenly looks up and says the words he was excited and nervous to hear, “My water just broke”.

Lexi grabs onto Dojikiri, mercifully letting Batb go. Her breathing was laboured, and her face twists in pain. Dojikiri holds her close and feels like he was going to have his own panic attack. “Bro, we need to get Lexi-chan to the hospital” Saki snaps him back to reality. 

Dojikiri merely nods his head, “Kitten” he whispers into her hair, “Saki and Chizuko-chan are going to get you to the car, whilst I grab my stuff. I’ll call your dad on the way to the hospital, and I’ll be there, right by your side”.
