Chapter 6 - Spirit of the Tigress

Lexi’s eyes seemed to be flicking like blue flames ready for the challenge.
My confidence of her winning the bout only increased from her look of determination, but also because it seems that whoever she will be sparring may just pass out from losing too much blood from a nose bleed.

Lexi’s POV

Goddammit Shido, why did he have to push my buttons like that? I get myself changed, tape up my wrists and ankles and head out to the training room.

When I walk through the door it was unusually quite considering when I went to get change everyone was back to training.

Maybe they’re taking a break?

I look up to see the members looking at me. Some were blushing, others had nose bleeds and I think two just fainted. Are you kidding me? Have they never seen a girl dressed like this? I whistled loudly to snap the numbnuts out of their dazes.
“Hey” I shouted. I think that bought some of them back to earth, except for the two on the floor. “Focus boys. If you lose it over seeing a bit of skin, then what are you doing this sport for? Coach” I look towards the coach who just seems to be shaking his head at the boys. He looks at me “Yes Lexi-chan?”

I told him “I’ll be warming up over there, then I’ll be ready to spar”. “Very well Lexi-chan. I’ll pick someone out as soon as you’re ready”. I bowed “Thank you coach”. 

I walked over to the far wall and begin my warm up. I stretch and practice some light tackles on a post nearby. I’ve worked up a good sweat and my muscles were nice and warm by the time I finished.

Time for action. 

“Lexi-chan” the coach calls and I turned towards him. “If you’re ready, shall we do this?”.
“Yes sir”. I walk towards the ring where the coach stood with a marital arts belt. “Put this on to imitate a mawashi” he hands me the belt and I tie it on. I look around and see the entire club is standing around watching us. I look towards Shido and Aki and who both give me a smile. I just glare at Shido whilst giving Aki a smile and then turn to face my opponent.

Let’s state the obvious....he was bigger than me by quite a bit, but he looked hesitant. Whether it was because he was going up against a girl or because the whole club was watching, who knows? However, no matter what the reason was, I cannot underestimate my opponent. I entered the ring and bowed before crouching down and placing one fist on the white line. I turn my eyes to stare straight at my opponent, who has crouched down and has both hands on the ground.

This is it. I’m ready.

Hang on, where there hell is he looking?

No one’s POV

The club members watched Lexi entered the ring and bow to Shiribu, who was chosen as her opponent. Just by looking at the size difference, it was enough to make some of the members cringe. 

“Surely this isn’t going to end well”

“Although Shiribu is not one of the top players, he’s no slouch either”

“That girl isn’t going to last even 5 seconds”

Murmured whispers were flowing through the club members with most of them believing that Lexi will not even stand a chance. As they watched Lexi crouch down and place one hand on the ground and Shiribu crouched with both hands on the ground, it was almost as if the team were all holding their breaths waiting for the start of the bout. As Lexi looked up, a frown seemed to mar her features. “Oy” she snaps her fingers at Shiribu and points to her eyes “Eyes up here dude”. It was then clear to the other members that Shiribu had been staring at her cleavage. Aki gave Tennoji a sideways glance to see his reaction and had to chuckle when he saw Tennoji’s jaw clenched and his eyes glaring holes into Shiribu’s skull.

The coach was refereeing and as soon as Lexi placed her other fist on the ground - “Spirit” - it was a blur of movement. Shiribu charged forward knowing he needs to take this seriously even if she was a girl. However, when he was moving forward, he saw Lexi was there one second charging towards him and the next thing he knew he was looking at the ceiling. What just happened he thought?

For all the other members they couldn’t quite believe their eyes.  Even Tennoji was surprised about what he saw. When the coach shouted “Spirit” they watched both Lexi and Shiribu charge at each other before Lexi suddenly ducked low and tackled Shiribu almost around his ankles. The truly amazing part was that when she made the tackle and flipped him over, she somehow pushed off of his ankles to stay upright so that she did not touch the ground and finished the tackle by skidding to a stop back into a crouch. Hands still off the ground.  

You could hear a pin drop in the dojo. The way Lexi was crouched and so focused on Shirbiu’s form as he was laying there, you could almost see behind Lexi the form of a predator, a tigress, waiting for her prey to make a move. To the wrestlers around her, she looked amazing and the respect that only Aki and Tennoji had, spread throughout the entire team. Lexi stood up and bowed to Shiribu before turning to the coach; who was not quite believing that this young girl won a bout against a solid wrestler like Shibiru. 

Lexi’s POV

That tackle felt good. I actually won a bout, okay so it was a mock one in a school dojo, but it was fun. After I bowed to my opponent I turned to the coach to get his verdict.
“Coach, do I now get your approval to join the club as a manager and train alongside the members?” The coach looked from Shiribu to me and back before sighing. I’ve noticed he sighs a lot. He turns to me and smiles “Yeah. Surprised me there girl. You have my approval to join the club and train with the boys”. A smile stretched across my face before I bowed to the coach, “Thank you so much”. I then turn to the team and saw Shiribu had joined the group. I bow to them “I look forward to working with you all. Please take care of me”.

“Yosh” they shouted.

I looked at Shido and poked my tongue out at him “Bleh” before heading to the changing rooms and cleaning myself up.

Once I cleaned up, I headed out of the changing room and saw Saki was waiting for me. “Hey Lexi-senpai. I wanted to properly introduce myself. I’m Tennoji Saki, a first year and Shido’s sister. It’s nice to meet you”. “It’s nice to meet you too Saki-chan. Just call me Lexi-chan as we’ll be working together quite a bit to keep these boys in line”. She looked like to was trying to contain her excitement in about something “You okay Saki-chan?” and that’s when the chatterbox was released “Yeah I’m good. I’m just so hyped about what I saw. I’ve been watching sumo for years and follow it because of my brother, but I’ve never seen anything so incredible. It was swoosh and bam and ........” and she lost me. My eyes glazed over as she continued to talk. She kind of reminded me of an excited spaniel. You know the ones when they wag their tails and everything from the neck downwards seems to shake with it. Really cute looking. 

“Lexi-chan?” and I’m back from my daydream. “Yes Saki-chan”.
“Shall we go? I think my brother and Kanou-senpai are waiting for you”. We walk out of the changing rooms and I can’t help but have a bounce in my step.
