'Soon it will be the official bouts in September with the new rankings announced. I pray that things go well for my boys’ was Lexi’s last thought as she feel asleep in the arms of her sleeping champion.

Lexi’s POV

Training continued in preparation for the next tournament and the guys were working hard.

“It’s out”, Ozeki called out as he ran into the dojo with what looks to be the new ‘Banzuke Rankings’. It’s basically a list of what the rankings are and if there is any changes. Ozeki passed out the copies and Shido sat down next to me; so I could read it.

After scanning a couple of the columns, I smiled seeing some of my friends, “Looks like Ushio-kun is ranked 3rd seat for the Western Maegashira”.

“Yep” Shido says, “he’s now in a position that places him directly in the upper ranks with me and the others. I can’t wait to fight him”. I just roll my eyes as I continue to read the names. Of course he would be excited over being able to fight Ushio.

I continue to look through the names as they got smaller. Each name of the wrestler is written by hand by the referees on a single sheet of paper in a special calligraphy style that is only used in sumo. The higher the wrestler’s placement, the bigger the name is written.

Pretty cool tradition.

I continued to look and stopped upon seeing Maru’s name. My heart broke a bit as I continued to see his name drop further and further from what he had achieved. A hand pats my head and I look over my shoulder into Shido’s eyes. “Don’t worry Lexi. Emily-san is looking after him and I have no doubt he will bounce back”, he smiles. I nod my head before I hand the paper back to Shido. Another tradition is that the wrestlers will all fold up the lists and send them to members of the stables fan club as a way to say that they appreciate the fans continued support.

As the guys get to work on sending the lists, my phone starts to ring.

“Hello?” I answer.

“Lexi-chan, it’s Ushio. Can you speak to Reina-chan for me please?” he asks, “She’s just acquired her driver’s licence and is freaking out a bit”

“No I’m not” I heard Reina in the background, “you didn’t have to call Lexi-chan”

“Just talk to her”, I heard Ushio argue.

“Hello Lexi-chan”, Reina speaks. Guess Ushio passed her the phone.

“Hey Reina-chan. So how’s the driving?”, I smile

Reina sighs quite loudly, “I’m terrified Lexi-chan. Was it like this for you?”

“Yeah, don’t worry about it”, I say, “Confidence comes with experience. Just keep doing what you’re doing and soon you’ll have no issue with driving”.

“Thanks Lexi-chan”, she says, sounding happier than before, “I’ll keep trying. Besides”, she whispers, “I needed to hear some encouragement as we’ve just been to see Hinomaru’s mother’s grave and now we’re headed to his grandparents”.
