My first time writing angst because why not.

Tw: panic attack, crying, implied death
...

I'm so tired of being here

Virgil walked through the house. It's was dusk and it was cold and it was something else. Something else that Virgil couldn't quite place.

These wounds won't seem to heal

Lonely.

That was the thing that Virgil couldn't place.

His feet traced across the cold tile floor as he walked through the still hallway. He turned into a bedroom at the end of the hallway, stumbling to the dresser.

A picture frame's class cover glistened in the dim light. Virgil walked over and picked it up, tears forming in his eyes.

This pain is just too real

The picture was perfect. Virgil and Roman has taken it the day they got engaged. Roman was on one knee in front of Virgil, brandishing a black box.

It was perfect. Everything was perfect.

Was.

There's too much that time cannot erase

Warm tears fell down Virgil's face. He put the picture down, his hand shaking.

It all happened in half a second.

The picture tumbled down and hit the floor. Virgil picked it up. He flipped it over. He felt even more tears on his face.

The picture was perfect, except for a crack  that sprawled over the glass like a twisted spider web.

The main point where the glass had broken was enough to slightly obscure the picture behind it.

The main point where the glass had broken was right over Roman's face.

When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears

Memories flowed through the tears falling from Virgil's face.

Memories of when Roman would stay by his side when Virgil had panic attacks.

When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears

It was too much.

Too much.

Virgil fell to the floor, pressing his back against the dresser. His hands trembled as he slid the purple ring off of his finger.

He held it close to his heart.

He held the ring close to his heart and clutched it tightly.

It was the only thing left.

But you still have

All of me

Virgil felt hot tears flowing down his face.

He felt his heart beat slowly and fast at the same time.

He felt his breathing go shallow.

His vision blurred. Virgil didn't know wether it was the tears or not.

"I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone,"

Virgil's voice was weak and hoarse and it trembled and broke and-

Another sob shook him. He clutched the ring tighter.

"But though you're still here with me."

Virgil weakly looked around the room. He weakly reached out a hand, grasping only air.

"I've been alone all along."
