NARRATOR'S POV
TIME: DECEMBER
At the park in the city center, Bailey and Evan were playing a game of soccer together. It was only the two of them, but they were both having an enjoyable time nonetheless. She always felt in her element while playing- soccer was her heart, and she truly hoped to play it professionally one day.
Bailey was about to kick the ball when she suddenly heard her phone go off on the bench. ''Hold on!'' She yelled to Evan before rushing over to check her device. She saw that it was a text from Hunter.
HUNTER: Come over
BAILEY: I'm coming
''I've gotta dash,'' She turned to Evan who was approaching her with the ball. ''Hunter wants me to come over.''
''Now?'' He asked, sounding annoyed. ''But we've only been here for twenty minutes.''
''Sorry bestie.'' Bailey apologized halfheartedly as she took the ball from his hands and packed up her belongings.
''Can't you tell him to wait?'' Evan spat although he was trying to remain calm. ''We've barely hung out together lately.''
She zipped up her bag and lifted the strap over her shoulder. ''You know I can't do that.''
''Why can't you?''
''Because he's my boyfriend.'' Bailey stated in an obvious tone, spinning around to face him.
''So you have to drop everyone and everything for him the moment he calls?'' He questioned, the anger he was trying to keep hidden slipping through the cracks.
''Why are you being like this?'' She asked, wondering what the big deal was. ''We can just hang out this weekend. You're coming over for our holiday dinner, aren't you?''
''I am but you've been with him almost everyday of the week.'' Evan snapped.
She didn't like the way he was talking to her, unable to hold back her tongue any longer. ''That's how relationships go, Evan. Maybe you should get a girlfriend if you're so upset at how I spend my time.''
He looked shocked at what she said. ''You don't get it. He's not good for you.''
''Not this shit again.'' Bailey rolled her eyes.
''Why won't you listen to anyone? We've been telling you for months now that Hunter isn't someone you should be with.'' Evan glared at her, he didn't understand why she was being so stubborn.
''And yet nothing has happened.'' She retorted. Can you just drop this?''
''No.''
''Well too bad, because I am.'' Bailey adjusted her bag before walking away from him. She headed to her car, leaving him by himself at the park although she was his ride.
She could feel the anger scorching through her as she drove to her boyfriend's place. Why couldn't any of her loved ones be happy for her? She finally found someone that puts up with her.
Bailey gripped the steering wheel tighter. Once she arrived, she parked her car and knocked on the door. She was greeted by a smirking Hunter who glanced over her body.
