Later that night, Logan entered the dining room tardily. His wife and kids were already sitting there waiting for him.
''I'm so sorry, everyone. Lots of paperwork today.''
Riley looked at her husband in sympathy, understanding how hard everything has been for him. Especially with the situation with his parents.
They both knew Zeus wouldn't back down so easily. The hard part was predicting exactly when he was going to strike. They were already on their toes and didn't want for anything to happen to their kids.
But it's been eight years ever since Logan last saw him. And he still had absolutely no clue on how to save his mother.
He's hired many experienced individuals who specialize in the creation of sahara ink, hoping that a solution could come out of it.
Yet nothing. They were just as clueless on getting rid of it as he is.
''It's fine, baby.'' Riley smiled at her husband.
''So, what exactly happened at school?'' Logan asked calmly. He knew his kids well enough to trust they wouldn't act rash unless necessary. Lately though, it seems to be becoming a pattern.
''Lila and Isaac were attacked again.'' April spoke up.
''N-no! We— he just.. he just wanted to..'' Lila trailed off, not knowing what to say to dismiss her sister's claim. She glanced over at Isaac, hoping he could interfere.
Isaac shook his head, knowing that they had to be honest. He looked at his father who wasn't touching his food until they told him the truth. ''April is right.''
Logan stayed silent for a moment. He wasn't sure if his kids understand the concept of bullying, but he knew they were smart enough to. ''Are you.. are you guys getting bullied?''
Lila stared down at her lap as he continued. ''Because.. this seems to be an everyday thing now. Someone is always trying to hurt you two, and April is always the one to come in and stop it.''
Riley chimed in. ''I noticed you haven't been working on your science fair project, either. Are you two afraid to present it or for someone to destroy it?''
''I..'' Isaac avoided their eyes, glancing down at his plate. ''Someone threatened to take it. So me and Lila were going to drop out..''
Silence filled the room. None of them knew what to say. Riley and Logan had experience with bullying and never wanted their kids to go through those struggles.
''And the school hasn't done anything about it? They don't notice how this keeps happening?'' Logan questioned.
''They don't care, daddy.'' Lila finally added tearfully. She still looked down, trying not to cry. Riley noticed this and got up from her seat to go comfort her daughter.
A pang of pain struck Logan's heart as he watched his daughter bury her face into Riley's shirt, the sobs stuck in her throat threatening to escape. His eyes couldn't help but water, but he quickly composed himself for the sake of his children. ''I'm going to go talk to the principal tomorrow. We'll be transferring you two to a private school.''
''Wait, what about me?'' April asked, her head snapping towards him.
''There's no reason to transfer you, sugar. You aren't getting picked on and know how to handle yourself.''
