S3 Chapter 13 - ''Disturbances''

Logan Martin

When it was time I went ahead and picked Riley up from her tiny apartment before driving out to the outskirts where the restaurant was. In my rear view mirror I thought one of the cars was following me but they were probably going the same way I am.

Once we arrived we both went in finding a table near the window. Sitting down we were greeted by our waitress who handed us both the menu before leaving to let us decide.

''This place is really nice, Logan.'' Riley said smiling as she opened the menu looking through.

''I'm glad you think so. I wanted to pick out the best for you.''

She giggled blushing slightly. ''That's super sweet, I might get diabetes from that comment.''

I smiled chuckling a bit. ''I mean, even if you did I would be happy to take care of you.''

The waitress came back over with a notepad and a pen. ''Are you two ready to order?''

''Yes, um.. I'd like the pesto zucchini noodles with shrimp.'' Riley stated. ''And to drink I'll take a pineapple smoothie.''

''What about you, sir?'' The waitress asked glancing over at me.

''I'll take the grilled margarita steak and to drink I'll have.. coke? I guess?'' I ordered the both of us handing back our menus as she left.

''So what's with the pineapple smoothie?'' I asked gazing back to Riley.

''What's with the coke?'' Riley questioned back.

''I didn't know what I wanted, okay?''

She snickered. ''Pineapples are great. Seriously, out of all the fruits out there they are the best. I would honestly eat a pineapple instead of what I ordered.''

''In my opinion it's grapes. I don't like raisins though. They're fucking gross even though they're just dried up grapes.'' I rambled.

Riley laughed. ''Same. I don't see how people like them. Tomatoes too. They're disgusting.''

I nodded my head chuckling. ''Enough about fruits though, let's talk about you.''

''Me? What is there to talk about?'' Riley giggled. ''I'm not that interesting, Logan.''

''I beg to differ.'' I responded as the waitress came by with our food and drinks setting it down on the table leaving to let us begin eating. ''If you were able to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?''

''Hm..'' Riley quickly finished chewing. ''Definitely Sea Bourne. The scenery there is absolutely amazing. I always adored the beach. It's the perfect place to go to in the summer, honestly. Imagine just sitting there on the shoreline the water splashing over your feet as you're taking in the heat of the sun.''

''Pretty detailed.'' I chuckled.

Riley giggled lightly. ''I low key want to be an author. Only low key though.''

''So then what do you high key want to be?'' I asked cutting up my steak with a knife.

''I'm honestly not sure. I'm majoring in communications but that's about it, really. I only picked that to help with my bad anxiety issues.'' Riley explained.

''You have anxiety?'' I questioned.

''Yep, I was diagnosed with two types. GAD and social.''  She answered.

''Damn.. I don't know what that's like but if it helps I've been diagnosed with major depression and ADHD.'' I informed hoping to make her feel more comfortable.

''Tough world, huh?'' Riley asked sipping her smoothie. ''But it's admirable how you have those disorders but manage to keep going every day working your hardest. I really like that about you. I mean, I wouldn't really know if I had any other disorders because I haven't been to a doctor in a while..''

''Thanks.'' I smiled. ''I find you pretty admirable too. You're brave. I like that a lot. That's something I really personally struggle with. You know, not being a coward. But I think I'm improving on it.''

''I don't see how you're a coward,'' Riley stated. ''In my eyes you're like one of the bravest people I know. The ruler of the Light Kingdom since the age of seventeen? Come on, pretty fucking brave to take that on as a minor.''

''I don't know,'' I took a swig of the coke. ''It wasn't really a choice. I ran away at fifteen trying to escape my problems but eventually came back for my sister and my friends. Our dad left the Kingdom in her hands and she was under a lot of stress and it wasn't fair what I did so it just happened. It was kinda my duty as her older brother.''

''See!'' Riley said looking at me. ''Now tell me how that's not brave.''

I chuckled she also joined in then there was this comfortable moment of silence. ''I really like you, Riley. I feel like.. you understand. You're not a bad person or anything who's going to back stab me. I feel like I can trust you. You're pure, beautiful, understanding, interesting, talented..''

She stayed quiet a huge smile on her face which made me smile. ''And.. it'd be great if we could be more than friends.''

''Logan? I've liked you since the day I saw you in the mall. I would love that.'' Riley admitted grinning.

Yes! She said yes!

I smiled like an idiot at her response.

Bridget Martin

In the alleyway near the restaurant I was busy trying to dig up the bomb in the ground growing frustrated when it wouldn't budge an inch.

This is fucking annoying as shit! It's making me want to pull my hair and scream! Why can't it just come out?!

Suddenly the bomb began flashing the hue of green making my heart almost leap out of my chest. I didn't bother grabbing my tools running out of there and towards the restaurant to get them in fear it was going to go off.

Before I could reach the door I noticed that nothing was happening. I didn't hear any ticking nor was the bomb flashing green anymore.

Maybe it didn't go off..?

I slowly walked back into the alleyway seeing that the bomb was displaying a high-tech map of the whole town of Shadow Creek identifying the bombs in the other locations.

What the fuck?

If it can show this.. maybe there's a possibility I could mess with it and it could link me to the base where these bombs were manufactured? It has to have an origin that could lead me to the leader.

Swallowing the lump in my throat I pressed one of the buttons jumping back when another map showed up on the screen in the color of pink.

This.. is no where near Shadow Creek.. what the hell is this place?

I pulled out my phone snapping a picture of it. I have to take the risk, this could be the base.

With my hammering in my chest I used the picture as a guide heading to the location.
