| AUTHOR'S NOTE |

Hey! During these last few seasons, I'll be changing things up from typical narrator point of view. Watch out for that or else you'll be confused. This chapter doesn't count though! Enjoy. :)

TIME: AUGUST, ONE & 1/2 YEARS LATER.

Carter woke up with the need to scratch his nose. He immediately came face to face with the culprit of Scarlett's curls.

His eyes were only opened halfway as he took her hair into his hand and moved it gently up onto the pillow. This was enough to wake up the brunette as she sleepily turned over to him. ''What's wrong?''

''Nothing is wrong.'' He whispered. The room was dark but he could still see her big brown eyes staring at him, trying to make sure that he was indeed fine. ''Seriously, Scar. Your hair was just in my face. Go back to sleep, okay?''

''Okay..''

Carter watched her as she closed her eyes, drifting off into a peaceful light slumber. He wondered how someone could be so exquisite. There were a lot of pretty girls at school, but their beauty was incomparable to hers.

There was just something about the way her wild, untamed hair fell past her shoulders. Something about how deep her dark eyes were, possessing both pain and innocence. Something about how full and plump her lips were, begging to be kissed.

No, there quite weren't any words to describe it.

It simply was the inexplicable truth.

Goodnight, Scar. He thought as he rolled over to the other side, making sure to keep his distance. The attracting urge to sleep finally caught up with him, pulling him into the dark abyss of his dreams.

. . .

"Hey, wake up you two! It's your first day back to school!" Bridget shouted from outside the door of Scarlett's room. She knew Carter was in there. He had been sleeping with Scarlett for a while now ever since what happened.

The doctors had diagnosed him with PTSD and informed that along with that he's developed claustrophobia and an extreme fear of the darkness.

They figured it would be best for him to sleep with someone he trusts. Bridget and Nate offered first, but Scarlett just lost her mother. It was clear that they needed each other more than anything.

In the mean time, Bridget decided to have Carter's room revamped. She envisioned it to be bigger and brighter for him to feel safe in.

Although she wasn't sure if he would ever feel safe again. Carter's quit swimming ever since the incident. He stopped reading, he stopped trying in school. He stopped living.

All she could do was hope that maybe one day he will be himself. There wasn't much she could do besides be there for him, pay for him to attend therapy sessions, and have him on medication.

But god, it felt like as a parent she failed him. And that hurt her so much every single day, knowing that there truly wasn't anything more she could do to help.

Carter was the only one who could get himself out of the storm, although he shouldn't have been in it in the first place. He was dragged into it by association, and that only made Bridget blame herself more.
