S4 Chapter 2 - ''Distorted''
A R I A 🎄 MATTHEWS
''Dragon, I.. I, uh... have something to tell you.''
We slowly stopped dancing as the next song began to play. I looked up at him, my heart beating out of control in fear. The thought of telling him made me feel sick to my stomach, but I owe it to him. He deserves to know.
''What is it?'' Dragon asked sweetly, glancing down at me.
I don't think I've ever felt this scared in my life. This sense of fear, it's different and indescribable. It's distinct compared to what I felt during the traumatic situations I've been in the past.
''I.. your father, Hades..''
''What about him?'' He questioned steadily. ''Wait, have you found out anything on his status or whereabouts? That would be awesome!''
I could see the twinkle of excitement in his eyes just talking about it. It made me feel weak, inside and out. Do I really have it in me to break his heart?
Please, please don't make me do this..
''No, Dragon. I.. Hades, he's not alive..''
''That doesn't make any sense, though.'' Dragon pointed out. ''When we went to the Death Kingdom, I felt familiar energy. It couldn't be anyone else but him. Or my mom. Who knows. But I don't think he's dead.''
''He i-is, Dragon.'' My voice began to shake. ''He's dead. I witnessed it for myself.''
''I don't know Aria.. you must have seen someone else. I doubt he's dead.''
''He is!'' I raised my voice, clenching my fists as tears filled my eyes. ''He's dead, Dragon. I.. I k-killed him. I murdered Hades two years ago. He's gone. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.''
''You what?''
I simply stayed silent, watching him while my tears slid down my face.
''Is this some kind of joke?'' Dragon began to chuckle. ''You're joking, right?''
''Dragon..''
''So,'' He started. ''You're telling me the only person I've come to trust ever since I lost my memory and have been doing fuck all just to figure out who I am, killed one of the only things I had left to get back my life?''
I didn't say anything, I couldn't. He's hurt and lashing out, this is expected.
But even so, it still hurt. A lot more than I thought it would.
''I fucking trusted you, Aria.'' Dragon spat. ''You were the only person who didn't think I was a weirdo and turned me away after finding out I have amnesia. You were the only person who stood by me and supported me. But I bet that was all a lie, right? Did you only use me to get to my father so you could fucking kill him?!''
''No, Dragon, that's not it. You're wrong, I didn't.. I didn't use-''
''I don't want to be around you right now, Aria.'' Dragon interrupted. ''Or at all.''
