Aria's POV
All of the workers nodded obediently and scattered about the hallways of the kingdom. Bridget, Nate, and Logan were now standing in a circle around me and Alizia. I gulped. What's about to come is unknown to me.
''I know I said for them to tell us when they find Hades, but we have to search for ourselves as well.'' Alizia informed us, eyeing at all of us.
I suddenly remembered the people in the cell room we were in.
Hearing groans, I turned my head to see the other people in the other cells staring at me in shock and with pleading eyes to help them. My stomach churned at the sight.
''I'll be back to save you guys.'' I announced quietly, in order for someone not to hear me. I then turned back my head, peering at the door before pushing them open and running out.
I have to save those people.
''Wait, what about the people that are locked in the cells? I have to save them!''
''Do not worry about them.'' Alizia looked at me. ''The workers are already on it. We're saving everyone, if we can, of course.'' She sighed. ''I don't even want to know how fucked up their state may be now because of all of this..''
She's right. They looked traumatized. Their eyes looked soulless. This is what happens when you deprive someone of their well being.
Well, I'm not having it. I won't ever allow Hades to do that to me. Ever. That's probably what he wanted. He sent all those people in order to make us scared. He was attempting to rob us of our hope. But that will never fucking happen. As if I'll let the man who hurt my family win. Who hurt all these innocent people. It sickens me. It really sickens me.
''Alright, let's start searching, then.'' Logan told us, bringing me out of my thoughts. I merely nodded and there we went, heading out into the depths of the kingdom in order to find Hades.
''You're not actually bad.'' Bridget commented, glancing over at Alizia. She still continued to hold hands with Nate who was focused on walking.
''Um, thank you?'' Alizia mumbled.
''I thought you would turn your backs on us by now, that this all was a sick joke.'' Bridget voiced, turning her head. ''But you haven't done anything yet, and your intentions seem genuine.''
Alizia stayed quiet and lowered her head. But despite that, Bridget continued.
''I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover.'' Bridget stated as if she was remembering something as she said that.
Alizia chuckled lightly. ''Yes. There's two sides to every story, after all. One story could be written in a point of view of one person. That way, you'll see the actions of the so called antagonist. Being the reader, you'll come to hate the antagonist because you're experiencing the feelings of the point of view of the character. But, the antagonist, of course is a character too. Who has their own reason for everything that they do. I think in my story, I play as the antagonist who takes off her bad person mask.''
''That's an interesting way to look at it.'' Nate muttered.
I nodded. ''Seriously, we should be friends. You have this unique way of looking at things. It's amazing.''
''Friends?'' Alizia glanced up at me then gazed away. ''Ah, no. That might be cool and all but.. once this is over, I'm done with living.''
Wait, what?
''You don't mean..'' Logan trailed off, staring at her.
Alizia nodded. ''I can't do this anymore. Plus, my only reason for living was because of Hades. Now that we're throwing this whole riot against him, once he's out of the way I won't have much reason to be alive anymore, right?'' She shrugged. ''It's unavoidable.''
''But you do have a reason to live.'' I pointed out, causing her to look at me with a confused expression on her face. I turned to gaze at her fully. ''To be our friend. And we wouldn't exactly like it if one of our friends think that way.'' I held out my hand towards her. ''I don't know your story, or what happened to you that is making you think that way, but let's unravel our stories together.''
Alizia simply stared at my hand, with this hesitant expression on her face. ''Ah, um.. I don't really know..'' She scratched the back of her neck. ''I don't know anymore..''
I tilted my head a bit. ''Wait, the reason you gave me half of your powers wasn't all just because of the reason to defeat Hades. Right?''
''She gave you half of her powers?!'' Bridget exclaimed in surprise. Both Nate and Logan stayed silent, listening and watching me and Alizia.
''It's because you also don't care about your life anymore, so giving away half of your magic DNA doesn't matter to you.'' I stated.
Alizia stared at me, not being able to say anything. ''.......''
''I'm right, aren't I?'' I questioned sadly.
Alizia slowly nodded. ''Yes, that's true.. but, I gave it to you to help you. However, I did have that thought in mind while giving you my magic DNA.''
People can wear masks to hide what they're truly feeling. Back then, when Alizia pulled out that syringe in order to take out her magic DNA, it seemed like she was in a hurry. But actually, a lot was running through her head.
''Guys.'' I glanced over at Bridget, Nate, and Logan. I pointed my head towards Alizia. ''Let's give her a hug.''
''What?'' Alizia questioned with a blank look on her face. Before she could say anything else, the four of us wrapped our arms around her and pulled her into a light group hug.
''It'll be okay.'' Bridget told her in a gentle tone.
We all soon let go of her, leaving her in a daze. She didn't move, and her face didn't distort. She just stood there, speechless.
''I'm guessing the only person you relied on most of your life was Hades.'' I guessed. Alizia nodded at this.
''But you're not relying on him anymore, are you? Because you're going against him right now. That means you're relying on yourself and the people around you. Before you knew it, you were already beginning to trust the people on your side. That's all the more reason for you to live, right? To continue on living with them, and to experience the future that awaits us all.'' I gulped. Giving advice is somehow a touchy subject for me. ''And to get to that future, we have to get through what's happening right now together.''
Alizia was already beginning to tear up during my speech. She wiped her eyes and nodded hesitantly. ''You're right. I know you're right. So..'' She gave us a small smile. ''Thank you guys. For giving me another purpose to live on in this cruel world.''
''No. Don't allow others to define who you are, Alizia. We're giving you a purpose, but you need to give yourself a purpose too, because not everyone is going to be there.''
Suddenly, loud screams broke out throughout the kingdom. We all quickly looked around and Alizia had already started running in the direction of where most of the workers were.
Oh, shit.
