''I'm sorry.''

Griffin shivered, the presence of Brielle behind him felt menacing and harsh despite her words, as if she were an mini hurricane approaching with the intent of destruction.

''... For what?'' He finally asked after a moment of silence, refusing to turn around.

''You know what.''

Griffin swears he could hear the eye-roll in her voice. ''That's not much of an apology.''

''I'm not the only one who fucked up. I wouldn't have reacted that way if it weren't for you.'' Brielle began to angrily rant, the rush of her words causing them to slur together.

His throat tightens uncomfortably along with his heart, guilt washing over him like a tidal wave.

She's right. If he had just gone along with what she wanted, then she wouldn't have snapped like that.

He pushed her too far. Maybe that's true.

But what about him?

Is it okay to even care about his own wants?

''Let's just.. forget about it. Rush hour will be soon.'' Griffin quietly placated, grabbing a rag to dry his wet hands.

''Yeah. Whatever.'' She walked off, her short and curt footsteps matching her tone.

He listened to her go, his body slowly beginning to relax with relief once he couldn't feel her around anymore.

Caring about his own wants..

Why is he even thinking about if that's okay?

It shouldn't be a question! He never used to let people walk all over him like this.

Not even his old friends. He fought them to protect Isaac and never regretted it.

Why? Why is he letting Brielle do this?

Has he just always been a doormat and hasn't noticed until now?

. . .

''This is usually an arrangement that would take multiple appointments to reach such a solution, but considering the Light Prince's input, I believe we can expedite it.'' The Fire Kingdom's Head of Accommodation concluded, typing away diligently onto her computer.

Evan could feel the weight on his shoulders suddenly ease up. ''Then, does that mean...?''

''Well, it will be more complicated than I've made it seem. There are several departments to coordinate with, including those within the union. But your case will be given high priority.'' She stopped to glance at the group before looking to Isaac with a polite smile. ''Is that suitable?''

''More than that, I am beyond grateful for your help.'' Isaac smiled back, knowing fully well that she only is doing this because of his status.

''Of course. Then, we will be in touch, Mr. and Misses Anderson.'' Her voice dripped with sugar when referring to Evan's sisters, gazing at them warmly.
