S2 Chapter 15 - ''Change''

I got caught up with Blaire and kingdom work yesterday. Now because of that it's the next day and I'm running late on my plan of going to check on the group.

Despite all of this going on, what happened is making me feel like I'm on top of the world. We decided to make it official yesterday. She's my girlfriend.

It's hard to believe but God a gorgeous girl like that is actually mine.

I was going to ask her to come with me today considering yesterday she said she would but since we spent the whole day together yesterday I didn't want to bother her with my problems. This is something I have to do. I'm the ruler.

Looking down at the map in my hands I used it as a guide to the Dark Kingdom. I've never been there before. I heard that it's pretty far into the East and underground too.

This is going to be a long walk.

But this gives me a lot of time to think. To reflect on myself like Aria suggested.

''You running away.. that was you burning out. Now being the ruler.. you're not use to so much pressure because you weren't around for years. This is the first problem your Kingdom has had.. yet it's making you cower. That's you burning out then and that's you burning out right now.'' 

She wasn't wrong about that.

''But you're strong-willed. Your determination and your strength is the reason you're standing here right now. The reason why you're still going. That's why you haven't gotten up, packed your bags and said fuck this.''   

All I have to do is look inside myself to find the answer. But how do I do that? What did she even mean?

Maybe I have to start with thinking about who I am. Okay, that's easy. My name is Logan Martin.

I'm eighteen years old, a senior doing SC online school, the Light Kingdom owner.. what else..

Uh, last time I checked I was 5'8 and I lost a couple of pounds since then because of not being able to eat the normal three meals a day..

I lost my mother when I was fifteen which made me run away. I always had a tumultuous relationship with my father. In fact, I never really liked him. We weren't as close as me and my mom. He didn't deserve to know me in my opinion. He's known for being a cheater. 

Back to my mom's death.. it hit me hard enough to the point of me running away leaving everything I knew behind and everyone who loved me to suffer..

Wait.

That's what Aria meant when she said I burn out easily.. just hearing about my mother being dead made me give up and run off. Even now with this situation I'm giving up even though I just keep up this act, but the only reason I'm going is because this is my job and I can't disappointment Bridget. That's what she meant by determination.

But I'm changing.. I didn't run away this time. I'm not going anywhere. I've been doing all these things without acknowledging it. I've been wanting to change but..

I didn't notice that I actually am.

I stopped a weak painful meow bringing me out of my train of thought. I started gazing around trying to see where the sound came from only for my eyes to land on a small kitty laying on the ground near a tree with blood on it.

Oh my god!

My heart hurt just seeing the injured animal as I ran up to it. My mind felt blurry and heavy but nonetheless I gently placed my hand on the kitty healing her with my light magic.

The light disappeared after a couple of moments the blood and wound no longer there. She glanced up at me starting to meow happily.

Aww, she's adorable.

''Hi baby.'' I gushed petting her softly. She rubbed her head against my hand.

What a cute kitty. She's so small too.. how did she even get hurt?

That's horrible.. but at least I was able to save her.

I lifted my head looking in the direction I was going.

I need to get going but I can't just leave her here..

I reverted my attention back to the kitty picking her up. She's tiny and fit in my hands perfectly.

Smiling at her I then continued on my way to the Dark Kingdom. It's a good thing I memorized the map a small bit. I should be good for about five minutes.

I think I'm halfway there.

Suddenly my phone vibrated in my pocket alerting me. I held the kitty in my right hand while taking my phone out with the other and putting it in my password. 

The phone unlocked leading me to the home screen. I swiped to my messages seeing a text from Alizia.

Meet me at the Waterfall quickly. It's urgent. - Alizia

Urgent.. fuck. It's been this long. Something terrible must have happened.

With my heart hammering in my chest I turned rushing to the destination using my memory.
