S4 Chapter 10 - ''Carter''
. . .
''Wake up, Carter! You have swim practice today!''
Upon hearing his mother yell, Carter Matthews, now ten years old, rubbed his sleepy eyes before getting up and out of bed. He quickly noticed that Bridget had already set out his clothes for him, changing into his team's swimwear.
Afterwards, Carter headed inside his bathroom to complete the rest of his morning routine. To him, it's one of the most significant things in the world; hygiene.
Well, that, and being organized.
His parents aren't sure when and how the habit started, but Carter has always sort of been a neat and germ freak. It's not anything serious, but compared to the average boy it's a little strange to see. While other kids don't mind having their room a mess, he insists on cleaning it himself.
But frankly, even if he didn't, he still would be a bit peculiar. A knack for learning, would rather do math than go outside and play- traits that have been deemed abnormal are all the ones he possesses.
''Good morning, Carter.'' The chef greeted as he entered the kitchen, sitting up on one of the stools. ''What would you like for breakfast?''
''No seafood.''
She chuckled lightly. ''Again? Well, okay. I know you need something light.. how about apple and linseed porridge?''
''That sounds tasty.'' Carter commented, following it with a nod. The chef smiled at the young boy before making him his breakfast.
''Denise, make some bacon and pancakes for the girls please. Oh, and I need some coffee.'' Bridget ordered as she walked in. She was breathing heavily like she had just returned from a morning run.
''You got it, ma'am. Give me a second.''
''Morning mommy.'' Carter greeted, glancing over at her.
Bridget kissed him on his cheek as she passed by him. ''Morning my baby.''
''Here's your oatmeal, Carter.'' The chef set down the bowl in front of him, handing him a spoon. ''Your coffee is ready on the kettle, Mrs. Matthews.''
Carter mumbled a 'thank you' to the chef before eating his oatmeal. Bridget rushed over to the kettle and poured herself a cup, taking a sip. ''God, you're a life-saver, Denise.''
Suddenly the sound of the doorbell rang throughout the corridors. Nate's footsteps followed right after. ''I got it! It's probably Razor!''
Nate opened the door, seeing that it was exactly the person he was expecting. ''Morning.''
''Good morning. Is Scarlett awake?'' Razor asked, stepping inside as he closed the door behind her.
