Nag-under time ako sa trabaho para makarating ng maaga sa restaurant kung saan kami magkikita ni tita Karina. Ate Candice, her secretary, texted me regarding the reservation made in Resto Felice. I just have to mention tita’s name daw for me to be accompanied to the reserved room.
And true to what was mentioned, I was led to a private room in the resto. It was my first to be in a private room inside a restaurant. Although nakakita na ako ng ganito, sa TV nga lang.
Abot-abot ang kaba ko habang hinihintay si tita. I arrived 38 minutes before 5P.M. I wasn’t excited, I was overwrought. Parang nakikita at naririnig ko na ang mga posibleng makita at marinig mamaya.
I am preparing myself for it.
The waiter served me water. They asked me for my order but I needed to wait for tita. And besides, I don’t think I could eat at this state.
I was tempted to tell Kent this morning about the meeting his mother has set pero naisip kong baka pagmulan pa iyon ng hindi pagkakaintindihan ng mag-ina. Hindi ko alam kung kumusta ang relationship nila ni tita but I am kind of aware regarding Kent’s relationship with his father.
Parang hindi sila okay and I don’t know why.
At exactly 5P.M., tita Karina arrived.
She entered the private room with greatness and poise. You can really tell just by looking at her that she’s someone well-heeled. Na hindi siya basta-basta. Ganito na ang dating niya before pero ngayon, may nag-iba. Gone is her sweet façade every time she’s talking to me.
“You’re early,” she said when she graced the room.
I essentially stood up when I saw her enter just to show respect.
“Hindi naman po gaano, tita,” I answered courteously.
Iminuwestra niya ang upuan sa akin.
“Have a seat.”
Agad naman akong tumalima.
She looked at me austerely. I couldn’t see any glint of positive emotion on her face. She looked mad and disappointed. Well, inasahan ko na ‘to.
“Hindi na ako magpapaligoy-ligoy pa, Jane,” pag-umpisa niya.
I sighed heavily. I couldn’t totally contain myself because of nervousness. Naanticipate ko na ang mangyayari ngayon pero kinakabahan pa rin ako ng sobra.
“I am too disappointed to you,” she continued. “What did I ask you the last time we talked in the mansion?”
“L-layuan ko po si K-Kent,” kinakabahang sagot ko. Medyo nakatungo ako. Hindi ko matagalan ang matalim na titig ni tita.
“Naintindihan mo ba yung sinabi ko sa’yo?”
