Amelia
I walked inside the precinct, heading up the stairs and straight to Platt's desk. I put the box I was holding on her desk and rested my arms against it as I looked up at her. Sergeant Platt was so concentrated on her computer that she barely noticed me walking in - or she completely ignored it, which is very likely.
"Good morning Sergeant." I greeted her, opening the box I had put on her desk as she turned around to face me. A smile grew on her face as she glanced down at the box. "Merry Christmas, I baked gingerbread men." I smiled warmly, observing her as she laughed.
Platt took one and tasted it, nodding her head in approval. "Merry Christmas, Detective Chuckles. Ready for today?" She asked, standing up as I grabbed the box and took a step back. She joined my side, heading to the stairs with me.
"Yeah, I am actually." I smiled at her, happy about everything that was currently happening in my life.
"Good, that means you're making the right choice." She opened the bullpen's door, walking upstairs with me as I nodded in agreement. I always knew I was making the right choice, that didn't mean it wasn't a hard one to make - but it was worth it.
As we arrived up the stairs, the whole team turned to look at me and Platt. I held the box of gingerbread men in front of me.
"Merry Christmas, I made cookies!" I exclaimed, smiling widely as they approached me with huge smiles on their faces. They all took one as they thanked me and wished me a Merry Christmas as well. Jay was the last one. He hugged me quickly and left a kiss on my cheek before going back at his desk when Voight asked them all to do so. He stood besides me and Platt, ready to make the announcement.
"Good day everyone, we've got a busy one ahead of us. But first, we have an announcement to make." He spoke, glancing at me as if wondering if I wanted go be to one to actually say it. I nodded, deciding it might be best.
"I have decided to step down as a detective. I won't be working with you guys anymore." I announced, pouting a little once I read their disappointed expressions. "I have been recruited to work with children victims of abuse or any other criminal acts. I will be helping them with their rehabilitation into their families, schools and all of that. I love my job and I, more than anything else, love this unit. But I felt like I needed a new start, with James now in our family and with the little one coming, "I spoke excitedly, rubbing my stomach, "I can't take any risk anymore. I'd be too scared to take any risks on the job and I don't want to put any of you in danger because of it. So I made my decision."
I had learned a few months after our wedding that I was pregnant, again. Jay and I were obviously over the moon as we had been trying and trying ever since we had James. Now that we finally succeeded, I wanted - more than anything else in this world - to be able to protect and be there for my kids. We decided that Jay staying in the unit made more sense, as this job was everything he ever wanted. Whereas I was open to a lot more, so I spoke to Voight and here we were.
James and our little girl were our little miracles. I had never thought that would be my life, but I will forever be thankful for it.
Today was my last day in the Intelligence Unit and I was sure it was one I would never forget. Just like I would never forget when this Unit found me and saved me, as well as when they took me under their wing and first offered me a job. This Unit and those people had become a huge part of my life and they would stay in it for sure. I was way too attached to let them go.
"So, for Amelia's last day as a Detective in Intelligence, Platt did some digging and found us a really special and hard case." Voight spoke again, leaving everyone excited - even me.
"Yeah, I'm hoping it'll take more than a day for you to solve it so Amelia's going to have to stay." She shrugged, lightly hitting my arm as if she wanted me to understand she was joking. I laughed at her and shook my head, joining my desk for the last time.
I sighed, taking a look around and smiling to myself as I looked at the people around me. Hailey, who didn't even trust me in the first place was now my bestfriend. Kim, who became somewhat of a role model for me. Kevin, who was and always had been my confident. Adam, who has always been the one I turned to when I needed a little ray of sunshine in my life. And finally, Jay, who is the love of my live - my husband. He turned to look at me as well, shooting me a wink as his head rested on his fist. I smiled, blushing lightly as I had been caught staring before concentrating back on Platt.
Here's to new beginnings.
___________________ Long ass author note ahead BUT PLEASE READ: First of all, thank you all so much for sticking with me throughout this sequel. It's been a hoot and I am truly honoured to have been able to read your comments and have your support. Thank you so much!
Second of all, I was thinking about making an Undercover series. Like you've got the first book (and its sequel) with Jay and Amelia, the second part of the serie would be another kind of Undercover mission with another OC character and Jay. OR I could write another book altogether (still a Jay fanfic), new story, new characters- everything. It's all up to you, so let me know what you would like in the comment
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OPENING THIS BOOK AND GIVING ME A CHANCE TO TELL THIS STORY! YOUR VOTES AND COMMENTS MEANT THE WHOLE WORLD TO ME
