Amelia

"It's been three weeks Amelia! What the hell are you thinking?" Hailey scolded me as I wrapped my arms around myself, careful not the spill the latte I had just ordered. We were taking a walk around town on her day off whilst Jay was busy with Will.

"I'm thinking that until I find out who complained he doesn't need to know what really happened." I stupidly answered and she rolled her eyes, knowing how stupid my response was.

"Even if you find out, there's nothing you can do about it. You know Voight's trying to change the Commander's mind and it's not working. Your way won't work either." She reasoned and I knew she was right, but it was too late now to go back and tell Jay. If I told him now, three weeks later, without a solution - I know he'd be mad.

"It might. Don't be such a pessimist." I teased, laughing as I tried to change the subject. Hailey was about to answer when my phone rang. I answered, talking for a few minutes on the phone before I turned back to Hailey.

"What's up?" She asked, reacting to my confused expression.

"Commander wants to meet with me about a job offer or something. I have to go now, could you drive me?" I asked her and she agreed. We made her way back to her car as she drove me to the Chicago PD offices. She decided to wait for me as I went upstairs and the person I saw waiting in the Commander's office surprised me.

"Detective Wilson." I greeted coldly. I had been hoping for months that he'd been suspended, fired even. They both got up to greet me, I took the Commander's hand in a firm handshake but completely ignored Wilson's. I wrapped my arms around myself as I sat down on the chair next to his - waiting for them to tell me why I was here.

"After we heard about you quitting Intelligence, Detective Wilson brought up an idea that could, uh, settle this all down for everyone." He vaguely explained, looking half satisfied by how he brought this up. But his statement only brought up confusion in my mind.

I scoffed lightly, "And what would that be?"

"You could come back and work with us as our undercover agent." Detective Wilson said and I accidentally laughed at loud, genuinely hoping that he was joking. When I looked back at them, they both held serious expressions and my laughter instantly stopped.

"You're kidding me, right?" I asked, looking at both of them. Neither of them answered me, so I scoffed in disbelief and leaned back in my chair. I rubbed my face with my hands - not even knowing how to react.

"We just want to save your career, Amelia." Detective Wilson added, but it was the straw that broke the camel.

"Save my career? Why didn't you want to save my career three years ago when you sent me undercover?" I replied, anything he would say to me now would only aggravate me even more.

"If undercover isn't what you want, then we can find you another job. I just meant it so that no relationship would get in the way of your career." He spoke back and many red flags raised in my mind from his statement. My eyes widened as I scoffed at him.
