12- Karaoke

Amelia

Putting my hair up in a ponytail I observed Hailey as she got dressed into a simple yet beautiful cocktail dress. I sighed, looking at myself in the mirror. I wasn't too sure about tonight.

"Hailey, do you really think this is a smart idea?" I straightened my dress so it'd look longer even though it didn't really work it somehow made me feel better about myself.

"Yes! It's been two weeks, you need to go out and clear your head." She assured me as she finished getting ready.

"My head is clear." I argued, turning away from the mirror.

"Oh, yeah." She scoffed, letting out a short laugh, "That's why you have nightmares and can barely concentrate at work."

"Shut up. You said you wouldn't put it back in my face." I argued as we grabbed all our stuff and left the apartment once we were completely ready.

"I know, I'm sorry. The whole situation just pisses me off, I can't even begin to understand how you must feel." She admitted, getting in the taxi we had called earlier.

"Well, it was my decision. I have to come to terms with it." I answered.

"Yeah it was your decision but it doesn't mean that it doesn't affect you." She replied, sighing because this was a conversation we had earlier this week.

"It does affect me, a lot and you know that Hailey. I work with him and I see them being partners and all, it hurts every single day. Hence the fucking nightmares and the lack of concentration." I explained myself and we stayed silent until we got to Molly's.

"Tonight, we forget about it all and you are going to have fun." Hailey scolded me, making me laugh. I nodded along with her as we walked in and were instantly spotted by our friends that were supposed to meet us there.

A few firefighters and paramedics were there as well. We both greeted them all and ordered ourselves a drink. We talked and laughed for an hour or so. I mostly talked with Matt and Kelly, since I never really had the opportunity to get to know them.

A bit later, Gabby announced that they were starting karaoke night just as the rest of the Intelligence team walked in. Hailey instantly grabbed my hand before I could make any type of eye contact with Jay and pulled me towards Gabby.

"We're singing." She announced and I gasped at her.

"Hailey! No!"

"Amelia! Yes!" She replied, laughing her ass off and bringing me to the karaoke stand. Luckily for me, it wasn't necessarily facing the whole bar so it felt more like we were blending in than giving everyone a show.

We mostly sang songs that Hailey had chosen and curiously they all had something to do with a girl getting over a heartbreak or about girl-power. I knew she had done this on purpose as she kept watching Jay who was sitting down with Erin, Atwater and Severide. I tried not paying attention to him, but I had to admit it was hard. I missed him a lot and knowing he was just out of my reach killed me.

Hailey had told me he went to diner with Erin once and it was supposedly only to inform her he didn't want to be back with her. But we both knew he was still mixed up in his feelings and I didn't want to stand in his way. But feeling his eyes on me tonight, even though she was right next to him, made me feel some type of way that was hard to ignore.

Once we were done singing our songs, everyone applauded us and we bowed down, laughing along with everyone. We went right back to the bar and we ordered another drink. Kim laughed at us as Ruzek appeared from behind her.

"Well done, girls." He complimented us before directing his attention to me, "Someone had their eye on you all night, just saying." He raised his eyebrows suggestively and smirked.

I slapped his shoulder playfully and rolled my eyes, "You might as well just say you couldn't keep your eyes off of us, Adam." I joked, making everyone laugh around us.

"Yeah, yeah. Definitely was talking about me." He rolled his eyes right back at me and kissed Kim on the cheek before grabbing two beers. He headed back to his table and handed a beer over to Jay.

"How're you and Ruzek doing?" Hailey asked Kim, we knew they had been dating for a while - being the first in house romance Voight had approved.

"We're doing great, actually." She smiled to herself and I noticed her glancing down at her stomach then back up at us.

"Are you?..." I asked, talking as lowly as I could so no one else would hear.

"I'm not sure, I was actually hoping you guys might stay with me whilst I do the test. I was going to ask you tonight since we're all here." She nervously told us and Hailey and I then dragged her to the bathroom, stumbling a little on our steps but ended up getting there anyway.

We asked her if she was sure she really wanted to take it here and she told us she was sure. I locked the door as she did her business whilst we waited impatiently outside by the sinks. As soon as she was done she walked outside and waited by us. Kim explained that her and Adam had talked about babies before but had both agreed that now wasn't the time. So she was nervous but at the same time she knew Adam would support her no matter what.

Three minutes later, the test turned out to be positive. We celebrated for a few seconds before Kim asked if she could leave it in my purse because , for some reason, she didn't want to throw it out but she also wanted to keep it a surprise for Adam until she decided how to tell him.

I agreed, putting it in my purse since I was the only one who had one and then we walked out of the bathroom.

Half an hour later, everyone had left the bar which left me by myself. I drank my beer as I sat alone and discussed with Gabby who was currently closing up. I laughed at something she said just as I felt someone sit next to me, a beer in hand as well.

"Hi."

Wow this took me so long to write and it sucks so bad I AM SORRY

I tried to write Hailey and Amelia being all badass but I couldn't make it fit into the story more than this. Hope you'll like it anyway!
