The blinding light coming from the sun woke me up long before Jay. I got up and closed the blinds we had apparently forgotten to close last night - so at least one of us could get some sleep. We had gotten home pretty late as the case took quite a while to close.

I went to the bathroom to take a quick shower and then get ready for work. It was one of the rare mornings we didn't have to go in very early yet we knew it wasn't going to be a slow day, not in Chicago. Half an hour or so later I was ready for the day so I headed to the kitchen to make us some breakfast. Once it was all ready and served, I went ahead and woke Jay up.

"Jay, baby wake up." I murmured as I rubbed his back gently. I left a soft kiss on his cheek and waited for him to grunt and turn around like he usually did. Once that happened, I smiled at him as he slowly opened his eyes and rubbed them. "Good morning handsome."

"Good morning baby." He answered, his voice groggy from the sleep. Jay sat up gently before completely getting up. I took the time to admire his body before he put on a shirt. "You really should take a picture and have it framed so you can look at it all day." He joked as I playfully punched him. We headed to the kitchen and sat down together to eat our breakfasts and drink our coffees - which was our usual routine.

"Apparently Voight has an announcement to make today." Jay informed me, taking a bite out of his food.

"Mhm," I swallowed, "Do you know what it's about?" I wondered, tilting my head to the side.

He shook his head, "Not really, no. I suppose it's about the free spot in the unit. He usually does a meeting before filling it in."

"Oh, so you had a meeting before letting me be part of the unit?" I asked in a honeyed tone as I leaned forward and smiled sweetly at him.

"We did." He nodded and reached for my hand. Jay held it and rubbed his thumb on my skin very gently. "I voted no, obviously but oh well." He sarcastically answered, letting go of my hand as I slapped his arm gently. My boyfriend laughed at me before leaving a sweet kiss on the back of my hand and letting it go so we could finish up our meals.

Once Jay was done, he cleaned up our plates as I packed some food for lunch - in case we had time for it today. Half an hour later we were both ready just in time for us to leave. We locked the door behind us and left the apartment hand in hand.

"You know, our two years anniversary is coming up." Jay trailed off as we got in his truck. I looked at him and hummed so he'd continue, "I think we should do something special."

"What do you have in mind?" I asked him as I observed him whilst he drove us to the district.

"Fancy diner?" He suggested and I nodded. "At home watching tv?" Jay added and I smiled at him.

"That's my boyfriend." I chuckled and he joined me, squeezing my hand gently.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the district and Jay parked in his usual parking spot. We kissed each other for the last time before we leave work and walked up to the bullpen together. I put our food in the refrigerator and I was joined by Hailey in the break room. She started making her coffee as she spoke up.

"So, almost two years with Jay?" She trailed off happily. Hailey wore this huge smile on her face as she looked at me.

"Yeah, big deal." I laughed, she hadn't even said anything about our one year anniversary so I didn't get why she was so excited about the second anniversary.

"It is! I didn't even think you'd make it that far!" She exclaimed, half joking half seriously.

"Woah thanks." I laughed it off with her as she asked me what our plans were. She seemed disappointed by my response but I shrugged it off. It was perfect to me. We went ahead and joined the others in the other room. Everyone was sat at their own desks, chatting with each other since Voight wasn't in yet. I sat at my desk behind Hailey as we spoke about nothing in particular.

As soon as Voight walked in, he caught all of our attention. The whole team was fairly nervous and excited to know about who was going to fill Dawson's spot in the unit. Maybe it was someone we had already worked with? Maybe it was someone who was just coming out of the academy?

"Everyone in?" He checked, standing in front of all of us. Once he saw that we were all there, he continued, "I asked you all to come in this morning because I wanted to talk to you about the free spot in the unit." We all stayed silent, "First of all, I thought it was going well even with a free spot but Commander Fisher didn't. He asked me to fill in the spot and he gave me a week. Now, I have someone in mind but I wanted to know if any of you had any recommandations. I'll leave it up to you until Friday, then I'm calling someone. That was all, you can fill in paperwork until we get a call." He finished vaguely and dismissed us. We all sat with confused expressions, wasn't he going to tell us who it was?

"Uh, Sarge? Who are you going to ask?" Atwater tried and Voight turned around before walking inside his office.

"I'm not saying yet." He took a quick glance at Jay before stepping in his office.

"Do we know them?" Ruzek called after him and we all looked at Voight, in hopes he would actually answer.

"Some of you do, some of you don't." He vaguely answered and Ruzek threw his arms up in the air in defeat. We all laughed at him before getting to work.
