"Again?" Hailey exclaimed as she opened the door to her apartment, "Ugh." She let me in as I sighed heavily as well.

"I know. I should've just stayed here the whole weekend. I'm sorry I took up all your time." I told her, putting down my overnight bag besides the door and took off my shoes.

"It's fine. But have you reached Jay at all since Friday?" It was now Monday, our third and last day off. We were going back to work tomorrow and Jay hadn't come home since Friday.

"Barely. He texted saying he was at his brother's house and Nat called to confirm and ask how I was doing but nothing else." I told her as she served us each a glass of wine. We sat on her couch.

"He's such a jerk." Hailey said and I knew she didn't mean to be rude. But the situation angered her because she knew how much Erin had hurt him and she hated seeing him isolating himself away from me.

"He's not though." I shook my head and pursed my lips, disapproving of her statement. "I bet he's just scared of seeing her again and doesn't know how to tell me."

"Well, I know that is true. But still, he's a grown adult, he should be able to be vocal about this kind of thing. Especially after two years of being with you." I covered my mouth with my hand and my eyes widened.

"Shit. Our anniversary was yesterday, Hailey. We had plans and- shit." I shook my head in disbelief. I had completely forgotten and I felt like shit about it. I should've at least called Jay and left a message or something. But at the same, he didn't make the effort to contact me either so why should I feel bad? "I'm the worst girlfriend ever."

"And he's the worst boyfriend so you two fit quite well together." She joked, trying to make me feel better and it worked, somehow. "Why don't you just text him a little something? Leave it up to him to do whatever he wants but let him know you're there for him. I know it sucks doing the first steps but maybe right now it is exactly what he needs." She reasoned and I completely agreed with her so I grabbed my phone and sent him a message.

Hey Jay, I just want you to know that whenever you're ready to talk or come back home I'll be there for you. I love you a lot and miss you.

I put my phone to the side and asked Hailey to talk about something else. She nodded and turned on the television to put on a show we could watch. We ended up talking the whole time up until we decided to go to sleep.

Hailey went to her bedroom whilst I got comfortable on her couch. I checked my phone one last time before going to sleep and I had no response from Jay. It worried me a lot that he barely tried to contact me. I didn't know how to act with him at work tomorrow, but I guess I'd figure it out as I go.

Hailey and I walked up to the bullpen together, discussing random things. As we got up there, Ruzek practically ran up to us with Atwater following closely.

"What the hell is wrong with Jay?" Adam asked, his eyes wide opened and I shrugged.

"I have no idea. Haven't seen him since Friday." I told them, growing a bit more worried as if I wasn't worried enough yet.

"Well, maybe you should go to the break room and talk to him before Voight gets here." Atwater suggested and I frowned at them, pushing past them and hurried to the break room.

What I saw completely broke my heart. Jay was sleeping on the couch, seemingly drunk. I didn't know wether he had gotten drunk before coming here or if he had gotten drunk here. I wanted to go with the first one because there wasn't any alcohol here. I shook him gently, trying to wake him up gently. The strong smell of alcohol filled up my nostrils as I stepped closer to him and I silently cursed myself for not being there for him.

"Jay, Jay wake up." He stirred a little, opening his eyes slowly and groaning. "You gotta go home." He slowly sat up and just by his posture I could tell he was probably still drunk. My guess was that he drank last night up until this morning before coming here.

"No," He trailed off drunkenly, "Gotta work." He chuckled at himself as he tried to hold himself up but I didn't think this was funny at all.

"Jay, come on. I'll drive you wherever you want but you can't be here like this when Voight arrives." I tried to bargain but he didn't budge. "Jay, please." It brought tears to my eyes to see him like this. I hated not knowing what caused him so much pain. I tried to get him up on his feet on my own. After a while I succeeded and got him to walk with me. I waved at my coworkers - who looked at me with pity looks - and snuck Jay out the back. His truck wasn't here which I thanked the Gods above for. I got him inside my car and drove to our apartment. He didn't talk or make any noise on the way and I didn't try to talk to him either.

I helped him up to our apartment where he crashed on the couch. I put a blanket on him and brought him all the essentials he might need. I sat down next to him and patted his back lightly to get his attention.

"I'm gonna have to go to work, Jay. Are you alright?" I asked him, rubbing his back as he groaned and nodded.

"M'sorry." He mumbled under his breath and I sighed.

"I know. Jay, you know I love you, right?" I wasn't waiting for an answer so I kept going, "Please don't keep whatever is bothering you to yourself. I know Erin coming back is taking a toll on you, but I'm here to help you figure out whatever it is you need to figure out. I just need to know the whole story." I kissed his cheek and got up, grabbing my things and walking to the door. "If you want to, we can talk when I get back from work."

I didn't wait for an answer. I opened the door and made my way out of the apartment. I drove to work where we worked on small cases the whole day, anxiously preparing for Detective Lindsay's arrival.
