Jay
I walked in the NYC precinct, anger flowing through my veins. I was packing up my things, getting ready to leave New York and go back to Chicago. Voight stopped me by putting his hand on my arm. I pulled it back harshly and breathed heavily.
"Don't touch me." I spat and Voight looked at me, unimpressed. "It's all your fault. It's your fucking fault that she's dead!" I yelled at him, catching everyone's attention.
"My fault?" Voight's voice boomed through the room.
"Yeah! You fucking made her meet him. She wouldn't have gone otherwise." I defended my point, watching as no one tried to come in between us.
"She's a grown woman and a fantastic detective, Jay. She could have told me no." He refuted, making me all the more angry. He sounded just like her old Sergeant.
"How could she say no to you? Ever since Lindsay came back you've been toying her around! Do you really think she felt like she had another choice?" I yelled in his face, I couldn't believe he was even trying to deny it all. Maybe it wasn't all his fault, but at least part of it was.
"Do not put your failed relationships on me, Halstead." He threatened, pointing his finger at me.
"Failed? It wasn't failing up until you threatened me to either be partner with Erin or lose my damn job! This isn't about any relationship anyway. This is about yourdetective dying!" I fought back. At this point, we were standing really close to each other and I feared one of us would throw a punch at one point. From the corner of my eye, I saw Upton and Lindsay frowning at what I had just said.
"This is part of the job, Halstead. I am sorry that she died, but this isn't on me." Voight said, not raising his voice anymore.
"Yeah, well I think it is. Had you not made her pick up all your little errands for your protégé maybe this wouldn't have happened at all. She wouldn't have felt like she had to please you as much." I responded, my voice still slightly raised but not as much. I packed up my things, "Make the arrest, I don't care. I'm going back to Chicago." I announced and no one answered, not even Voight this time. As I was walking out of the room, I caught sight of Yates.
I let out a deep breath and tried turning away but I couldn't. He had touched her and killed her, yet there he was, perfectly healthy. This wasn't fair. I dropped my bags and headed for the room he was staying in quickly.
"Jay, no!" Hailey exclaimed through the room but I completely ignored her. I barged into the room and grabbed him by the collar. I held him up against the wall and hit his head once.
"You fucking sick bastard." I spat at him, letting go of him so I could punch him in the face. I didn't even care where my fist landed, all I wanted was for him to suffer.
"Oh, so you found her?" He smirked at me, gaining himself another fist in the face. As my fist came in contact with his face multiple times, hands grabbed me from behind and pulled me away from him. I yelled and tried to free myself but it was no use. They pulled me out of the room and without fighting anymore I left the District.
I was on my way to the airport when someone called my phone. I was tempted to ignore it, but something compelled me to answer instead.
"Detective Halstead," I spoke, my voice weak and tired. I rubbed my eyes and ran my fingers through my hair. I felt sad, betrayed and everything in between.
"Jay? Oh thank God I didn't forget your number." I was left speechless from the voice I was hearing. It was impossible. No way I wasn't hallucinating. I pulled my phone from my ear and looked at it, it read Unknown number.
"Wh-what? Amelia?" I stuttered, tears welling up my eyes.
"Y-yeah? Jay are you okay?" She asked, seemingly confused at my surprise. I heard voices on the other side of the phone, so she wasn't alone.
"N-no! I thought you were dead! We found your body, how - how is that possible?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes. "Scratch that, where the hell are you?"
"This dumb fuck dumped me in a disgusting motel close to the SVU district. The officers who found me called them, but I wanted to call you myself. Are you in New York?" She asked, her voice making me feel like I was flying to cloud nine. This all felt untrue.
"I am. I'm coming." I simply answered before we quickly said goodbye so I could ask the driver to turn back around and drive me to the motel. The drive there felt like forever. Once we got there, I gave him probably way too much cash and jumped out of the car with my bags. I dropped them next to a squad car and ran to where most people were standing.
I pushed people to the side - gently - and tried to find her. My head was all over the place, I couldn't hear or see properly but the only sound that brought me back to my senses was the sound of her voice calling my name. I turned abruptly and I saw her, overall looking fine. It was obvious he had been harsh with her, maybe hit her a few times - but she was alive and standing right in front of me.
With tears running down my face, I ran to her and held her in my arms as tightly as I could without hurting her. I thanked the heavens above that she wasn't the one who died. She was there, standing in my arms with hers around my neck.
"Thank God you're here." I whispered in her ear and I felt her nod against me.
"I am, I'm fine Jay." She whispered, rubbing her hands on my neck soothingly. I breathed in and out deeply, calming myself down. "They filled me in on what happened. I'm sorry you thought that was me, he's a sick bastard."
"It's fine. I got you now and I swear to God I am never letting you leave again." I kissed her cheek as I slowly pulled away to take a good look at her. "Did he hurt you?"
"No, no I'm fine. He was planning on coming back here to finish the job after you found the other woman. But you found him a bit too soon, I guess." She told me, her hands on my cheeks. "He took me because he was mad we kept him from killing that last woman in Chicago." She informed me, "But I'm glad we did. We saved at least one of our people."
I smiled at her, she really had changed and gotten even stronger. She had just gotten taken yet here she was being all positive and shit.
"I love you." I told her, resting my forehead on hers.
"I love you." She responded, instantly pulling me in for a kiss.
