"You know, we might have screwed it all up."
My head raised quickly so I could look directly at Jay. We were cuddling in bed, making the most out of our morning together before going to work. Jay's statement was one of the things I never wanted to hear from his mouth, especially not after the night we had. I raised my eyebrows, urging him to explain what he meant.
"I think Voight was going to give you back your spot in Intelligence - as a detective. He got the Commander to agree but now that you're pregnant I don't know if it'll change things." He explained, his hands rubbing my back and hip as I laid on my side - cuddled up to him.
"Damn you, Halstead. Finally getting me pregnant at the wrong time." I joked, "Plus I might not even fit in my wedding dress anymore if we keep on pushing it 'til later." I added, leaning up a little as I saw a little smile growing on his lips.
"That ain't all on me, baby." He kissed my nose softly, still smiling. "We'll just make a hole in it for your belly, it'll be fine." He shrugged it off, joking - at least I hoped so.
"I really hope you're kidding." I answered, making him laugh as he held me closer to him.
"I am." He chuckled, "We'll figure it out. Right now, I'm too happy about this to be thinking about anything else. Which I never thought would happen by the way." Jay kissed the top of my head, making me smile softly. I reminded myself of everything we both had gone through as individuals as well as a couple. I was extremely proud of what we accomplished and how much we changed in only a few years. Our whole lives had been shook by multiple obstacles that we managed to pull through and get out even stronger. We were part of the lucky ones and I was very well aware.
"We have to schedule a doctor's appointment soon." I responded and he nodded, sighing.
"Yeah, I'll call Will to give him a heads up so he doesn't learn from someone else. That okay with you?" Jay made sure and I nodded, chuckling softly.
"I told the whole team, Jay. Of course you can tell your brother." He was just about to answer when his phone rang, signalling that it was time for us to go. "Duty calls, Detective Halstead." I called, patting his chest as I kissed him and got up so I could go get ready.

As soon as we walked into the district, we were welcomed with Platt holding a few baby themed balloons. I laughed and frowned at her, confused about the sudden wave of niceness, if I could say it like that. She gave a dismissing wave of her hand and gave me the balloons.
"Mouch made me do it." She simply said and I nodded, smiling at her. "But congratulations you two." She smiled at us and it took me a lot not to aw her but I knew she wasn't the most affectionate person and I didn't want to seem rude.
"Thank you, Sergeant. That means a lot." I thanked her and so did Jay before we walked up the stairs to the bullpen. We were greeted by all of our coworkers holding presents in their hands as well as a small table with snacks on it.
"You shouldn't have." I told them, hugging each of them one by one before grabbing a doughnut from a plate. As I took a bite out of it, I glanced up and saw Voight leaning against the doorframe of his office - observing us.
"Congratulations you two." He spoke, waving me over to his office. I smiled at everyone and headed to his office, my doughnut in one hand and a decaf coffee in the other - just like a real cop. I shut the door behind me and took as seat as he signalled me to.
"What would you say if I offered you your job back as a detective in this unit? I know you're pregnant, but we would take extraordinary mesures to make sure everything goes well." He suggested, leaning back in his chair as he made multiple gestures with his hands.
"Well, I'd say yes - obviously. But is everything cleared with the Commander and all?" I asked, making sure before I took a bite out of my doughnut.
"Yeah, we cleared it all last week but I was waiting until I got more information on a case to offer the job back to you." Hank told me and I frowned at him.
"Why?"
"We're sending him undercover and so I need you on my team." He simply said and I nodded, agreeing to take the job. Voight congratulated me again and told me to join the team in the bullpen so he could introduce the case.
"Judge Tommy Wells' daughter died a week ago. It put us on track of a pill mill spreading in our suburbs. We know the doctor who is enabling it and we got intel about who is currently selling it. We're looking for Luis Vega - former Army Ranger. We're going undercover on this and Jay, you're the one going." Voight practically ordered and the title of this Luis Vega made me scrunch my nose up.
Jay still had a few ups and downs about his time in Afghanistan and many things triggered him. I was scared of how this would turn out, but I couldn't let it show. They were going to be all up my ass about working in the same unit as my soon-to-be-husband after getting a complaint, there was no room for mistakes now.
Jay simply nodded, opening the folder he held in his hands - reading over the informations about his undercover gig. I observed him quickly before catching Hailey glancing at me, looking almost as worried as I was. I looked away and sat at my desk so I could read over the folder. We were going to make up some type of plan for Jay to have some kind of guideline. Voight announced that Jay would start tonight, so we had to get him ready quickly.
I was worried about what this would all mean for us, but I trusted Jay to do the right thing.
