The sun light peaked through the blinds and blinded him as soon as his eyes pried open. His head felt like an elephant was constantly stomping on it, his eyes burned like they were on fire and every single muscle in his body hurt. He rubbed his eyes, finally getting them open to see who woke him up so early - at least it felt early. Jay groaned at the sight of his brother leaning against the window in front of the bed, his arms crossed over his chest.
"How's that feel?" Will asked, knowing the answer the answer very well.
"Great. Thanks, Will I needed that." Jay sarcastically spoke back, hiding his face with a pillow. He felt nauseous, probably because of all the alcohol he had consumed over the last week or so. He knew it had to stop, but he couldn't bring himself to actually stop reaching for the bottles when he was out with Luis.
"Yeah? Funny because your pregnant wife needed you yesterday at the ultrasound but you were too busy getting drunk and cheating." Will lectured, watching as his brother took the pillow of his face to glare at him.
"Screw you, Will. There's no wedding anymore and the ultrasound's in a week." Jay remarked, rubbing his face again- trying to wipe the sleep off his face, and the hangover if possible.
"No, Jay. It was yesterday and I know you weren't there because I saw Amelia in that room, alone." The older brother informed Jay, who sat up quickly - maybe a bit too much because he felt even more nauseous as the blood rushed to his brain. Jay grabbed his phone off his nightstand quickly and looked at the date.
"No, no, no, no, no." He groaned, getting up quickly and grabbing his jeans. He pulled them up his legs, running his fingers through his hair as he stared at his brother. "No way, I had the date marked down. I wasn't supposed to forget it." Jay denied, sitting on the edge of the bed - his head buried in his hands.
"Well you did. Now tell me what the hell is going on with you, Jay? We're all worried here." Will sat next to his brother, handing him his shirt which Jay didn't lose any time to put on.
"PTSD's coming back. I thought I was fine after the last time, I mean the nightmares went away, the constant pain everywhere left, the hypervigilance, the lack of sleep and all the self-destructive behavior were all gone-"
"Well, I wouldn't say the self-destructive behavior was completely gone." Will teased, making Jay hit him with his shoulder.
"Yeah, well that might just be a part of my personality now." Jay declared, letting a small chuckle before he kept going, "Anyway, this case just brought everything back and well, I spent 7 months trying to overcome them with different addictions and I just- I was just brought back to it. Got in over my head and now I can't stop because I have to finish the assignment today." Jay bit his lip, shaking his head at himself. He was disappointed with himself. The detective knew that this time he had gone too far, he had screwed Amelia over once before and now that he did it again - he wasn't sure she'd have it in her to forgive him again. He would obviously understand her, but it hurt nonetheless.
