i'm not her.

She made it look so easy. How? Do you know how hard is it so be dating a guy with a 16 year old boy? And a 13 year old girl? Especially when their parents got divorced and now I'm the "replacement"?

I don't know why I worry so much on saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing. I never worry about the girl as much, Veronica. She's sweet for a 13 year old and so kind to me. Grayson? Not as much. He's.. well getting there with me. It's been 3 years since me and kairi got together and the only process is he can talk to me without kairi having to be there.

"Hey babe." Kairi greets me and kisses me. "Hey, how was work?" I ask him. "Good, surprisingly. Me and some coworkers are being held up for a promotion and I hope I get it."

"I'm sure you will kai. You're one of the brightest ones there." I smile. "That means a lot and maybe if I do, we could get the dream house I promise you 2 years ago." I laugh, "I don't need to be in a big house to enjoy life kairi. I have you and your kids that make me enjoy life."

"You're the best." I grab his chin and connected our lips. "Did we interrupt something?" We heard. We turn our heads and they were standing there. "Yeah, you did. How did we not hear you guys enter?" He laughs.

"Stealth mode." Veronica says. "As you should. Now, Veronica, come with me. I thought I can teach you to curl your hair since you've asked me.. I don't know.. 50 million times?" I say sarcastically. "Really!" She smiles. I nod my head. "We'll do that after eating. Who wants spicy pasta?"

"I'll pass. You know I don't handle spicy foods right?" Grayson says. "Yes I do, that's why I made a small portion of regular pasta." I handed him the plate. "I'll still pass. Dad, I'm going out."

"No, you're not. You are going to eat with us." Kairi says. "But I don't want to."

"Too bad. Sit down. Now. Before I call mattia and he'll put your ass in your place." He rolls his eyes and takes the food from my hands. I felt a bit of tears swell my eyes but I smiled and gave Veronica her food. She smiles weakly, "I'm sorry." She mouths. I shake my head and gave kairi his food, "I'm sorry. I don't know why he's still acting like this."

"It's fine. Teenagers. It's fine." He grabs my hand. "I promise."

"Mom's coming to pick us up dad." Grayson yells. Kairi and I were in the living room watching a movie with Veronica. "Go get your stuff ready v." She groans, "But I wanna stay here with dad and y/n."

"Go get your stuff ready, babe. We'll continue when you get back. I promise." I held my pinky out. She wraps her around mine and smiles.

"Ayo!" Mattia yells. "Where's my favorite shawttyyy!!" He yells again. "Mattia!" I smile and hug him. "No baby yet?" I laugh, "No."

"What's up baby." He tells kairi. "Hi babe."

"Alright, hurry your asses up because Alejandro is coming over soon and so is Rob." I nod my head. "Hey, we still cool?" Mattia asks, holding his fist for a fist bump. I roll my eyes, "Frosty." I gave him his fist bump.

"Let me go check on them." I tell them. I go up and was about to knock on Veronica's door when I heard grayson talking to her. "She's not our mom. Mom should be the one teaching you how to curl your hair or shave your legs. Not her."

"Mom isn't here all the time gray. I moved on, why can't you? Why can't you expect dad's girlfriend?"

"Because she's not my mom and she'll never be my mom. She's just someone who's going to be here and leave dad. That's what everyone women does with a single dad. And I'm not surprised if she does that." Ouch. That hurt. I knock on the door and wiped the tears. The door opened, "Your mom's here. Have a good time." I walked away and sat next to kairi. He notices my face and mood and starts to worry. "What's wrong?"
