"So, tomorrow's your birthday." Kairi smiled through the phone. "Yup, excited." I smile. "What are you doing tomorrow?" He said. "Nothing, probably gonna have a party with my family." I say. "Well, get some rest princess." He said. "I will, night kai." I said. "Goodnight." He said. I hung up and smiled softly, "fuck I miss him."

"Y/n! Get up baby." I heard my mom say. "What? Mom." I groan covering my face. "Come on, you'll be late to your flight later." She smiled. "What?" I say fully awake now. "You're going to jersey for your birthday to celebrate it with kairi!" She said. "Oh my gosh, thank you mom." I said hugging her with tears in my eyes. "Now, I've packed everything, all you need to do it look good and we'll leave." She said. I shot out of bed and went to shower. I was so excited to see kairi again, but I wanna surprise him.

"Mom! I'm ready!" I said. "Alright, let's go." She said grabbing her keys. "Are you excited?" She said. "Definitely, I haven't seen him in months." I say. "Good thing that I got you this flight than huh?" She said. "I'm forever grateful for you mom. You sure it's not a problem to leave for a couple of days?" I said. "Definitely not! You need this. Kairi needs this." She said.

"You'll be okay, call me when you're over there." She said. "Got it, i love you, bye." I said. "I love you too." She said kissing my forehead.

Kairi's pov
"So you're going to see her for her birthday and stay there for a couple of days?" Mattia questioned. "Yes asshat, now can you drive me to the airport?" I ask. "Well, since you asked so nicely. Let's go." He said.

"I'm nervous." I said. "Don't be, you guys have been dating for forever. You guys need this. Being long distance and being together for 2 years is a long time. You never know, you guys can meet in the middle and see each other more." He said. "I think I'm going to give it to her." I say. "I thought you guys already had sex?" He said. "No! We have, I'm talking about the promise ring idiot." He said. "Oh right, I think you should." He said.

"I'll see you next week." I said. "Alright bye, text me later." He said. "Well do, bye." I said walking to my gate.

Y/n's pov
It was 5 when I had landed, perfect timing. I quickly got a Uber to take me to kairi's house. "Thank you, have a nice day." I say getting out. "Y/n?" I heard someone call my name. I look behind me and see mattia. "Tia! Hey." I said giving him a hug. "Happy birthday." He said. "Thank you, where's kairi?" I ask. "Oh he left to surprise you." He said causally. "Huh?" I ask. "Holy fuck! We need to call kairi." He said.

"He isn't picking up." I said. "Let's try alejandro." He said. He grabbed my stuff and we ran to Alejandro's house.

"Open up bitch!" Mattia yelled banging on Alejandro's door. "Relax man, oh hey y/n. Happy birthday." He said to me before giving me a hug. "Wait, shouldn't you be in your in home, waiting for kairi." He said pulling away. "That's the thing idiot! Kairi left and y/n's here." Mattia yelled. "Shit." He said as we went inside.

Kairi's pov
I landed around 6 and I was so ready to see y/n. Nervous actually. I didn't bother texting or calling mattia. I got an Uber to her house and I had the perfect plan.

"Thanks man, take care." I said getting out. I knocked on the door and her mom opens. "Kairi!" She said. "Um hi?" I said. "What are you doing here?" She asked letting me in. "I'm here to surprise y/n. Where is she?" I ask. "She's not here, kairi." She said. "Where is she?" I ask. "She went to jersey to surprise you. It was her birthday present." She said. "You're messing with me." I said. "Nope, kairi you need to go back now. I'll get you a ticket but you need to go." She said pulling me out of the house and driving to the airport.

"Mattia! Is y/n there?" I ask. "Yes I am. Kairi as much as I love you, you are such an idiot." She said. "Hey, not my fault! I went to surprise you!" I said. "Fair point. This birthday sucks." She said. "Give me a few hours. I need to go, bye." I said hanging up.

Y/n's pov
"Guys, this birthday sucks." I said laying on ale's bed. "Hey, it's okay. He'll be here." Mattia said. "But he was supposed to be here now." I said. "Give him time." Alejandro said. "Can I just cry and wait for him?" I say. "No, how about ice cream instead? But we need to get your stuff to kairi's house." Mattia said. "Than let's go." I said.

"Thank you, I'll see you later with your son." I said to his mom. "Bye, y/n!" She said. "Great it's 7 and my birthday is almost over. And it's already night! What the fuck!" I yell to the sky. "Chill out dude." Mattia said. "Can we go get ice cream now?" Alejandro said. "Yes." Mattia said.

Kairi's pov
"Okay everyone, we have officially landed in New Jersey. Please take everything with you." The flight attendant said. I grabbed my stuff and texted y/n's mom that i landed. Shit, it's 10. I quickly call an Uber and hurried to my house. "Where we going?" He asked. "This address, and hurry. I need to get there asap." I said putting my seatbelt on. "Family?" He asks. "No, girlfriend. Long story." I said. "We've got time." He laughed.

"Wow, that is complicated. Well, I'll tell you this. You'll need gifts." He said.

Y/n's pov
"Guys, it's 10:30. He's not coming." I said as walked home with our ice cream. "He'll show up." Alejandro said. A car passes us and I see a figure walking to us. "Who's that?" I ask. "Don't know, short dude." Mattia said. "Y/n!" It said. "Holy shit, it's kairi." I said dropping my ice cream and running to him.

He stood there, waiting to catch me. I jumped in his arms and he wrapped his arms around me tightly. I wrapped my arms and legs around tightly around him, "I'm so sorry, happy birthday baby." He mumbled. "It's okay." I said. I grabbed his face and pulled his lips to mine. It's been 10 months since the last time we kissed and it feels amazing.  "I have something for you." He said. He let me down and gave me a teddy bear, a bag with snacks and everything and pulled out a black box. "Kairi, you're here." I turned around. "Yeah, he is." I smiled at the boys. Alejandro gasped as mattia smiled.

I turned around and kairi was down on one knee. "No, this isn't a proposal, definitely the worst place to do." He laughed. "But I am promising to you and myself that I will love you forever. You've been the light of my life since freshmen year and these 2 years of dating you and 4 years of knowing you. I see you as the most pure, perfect, and beautiful soul. You're so colorful, and I'm grateful for you here. I promise to always be happy for you, even if that means you don't feel your happiness with me anymore. I'm just happy that you are happy. So, I'm giving you this promise ring, to promise to love, hold, take care, never cheat, or hurt you." He said getting up from the ground and slipping the ring on my finger. "I love it kairi, and I love you." I said giving him a kiss, letting the tears that were already coming out, fall out of my eyes.

"Beautiful, but it's cold." Alejandro said. We laughed before going inside kairi's house and enjoying our time.
